It’s not a game great on quality. Everyone talks about Luton Town having one of the lowest wage bills in the league?

They have Jerome, Lansbury, Snodgrass. I’m not sure how they have one of the lowest wage bills. There’s some decent senior professionals in that squad.

Nathan Jones needs to buy clothes that fit. He looks like he’s been shopping in the kids clothing department.

Huddersfield a mass if frees and loan deals apparently. Luton have been coupon wrecker’s all season .

Huge kudos to both managers.

Agreed. Smacks of bullshit to me too - but seems to be a 100% accepted 'truth' these days

decent half of football that, not what you usually get in a first leg game.

Not exactly. They wax lyrical about the cost of the players rather than the wages. Team cost a couple of million in total.

Huddersfield's still cost even less though. Mental considering they still have parachute payments.

Wages are a significant cost though!

And since it's been a while since I got on my hobby horse, they signed Burke when we'd said we couldn't afford him, so they were spending more than we were last summer at least.

I'm not sure. As has been mentioned, they offered more than us for Burke but Jerome was at MK Dons last season so I doubt he's on much, Lansbury was out of favour and so was Snodgrass so they can't demand the earth.

It might just be me, but are Huddersfield and Luton that good or is the quality in the top 6 just quite low this year?

I think apart from Fulham. The quality hasn’t been as good as in previous years. Probably driven by reduced revenue during Covid. A lot of clubs turned to free signings and loans.

They’re all just very solid defensively and I think we’ve made a good foundation this second half of the season as to how we need to be defensively in games next season. Few additions to the midfield and the attacking side will improve massively. Think the addition of midfielders is actually more vital to us making progress then say a big money striker.

It's been a weird one, some clubs had really slow starts, Boro, Forest and Sheff Utd and then some clubs completely fell away, West Brom, QPR & Blackburn.

It's hard to see Luton and Huddersfield repeating this year's achievements if they don't go up, they'll be picked apart and the league is likely to be tougher at the top end next year

Depends how much they pull in for their star players, Sorba Thomas will get Huddersfield over £10 million likewise Lewis O’Brien. If they hold onto Coberan they’ll be at the top end again no doubt for me. Luton’s best players don’t really have that level of sell on value bar Adebayo.
