How do sponsorship deals affect FFP?

Can Man City spend what they want because they have massive sponsorship deals?

If we get Aramco or something, will that mean we can spend loads more than we can now?

Ok, a question then, which teams will we be completing with for signings?

Yes we won't sign Joselus anymore, but we won't get Haarlands either, so whats the mid ground?

Yes Liverpool and City are far more attractive than us, and Spurs and Arsenal are too, but i dont see why any players would favour teams like West Ham, Leicester and Wolves over us.

All clubs will be active.. Villa wolves the lot and they've already got better players than us.

If nufc spends badly its possible they do no better next season because they'll only be a few injuries away from playing Lascelles and Longstaff.

If nufc spend well who knows maybe they can get lucky with I injuries and finish higher than we expect.

I've decided to take the advice from the club and accept we've got a alot of struggle before anything particularly exciting happens.

There's no sponsor until next summer apparently.. So a short term extension deal is likely with fun88.

There was some obstacles put I place about sponsors or something by the cartel

They've definitely been good with managing expectations, and in that regard, if we finish about 13th this season, something like 7th would be huge progress from that.

Yes the transformation of the squad can't happen immediately (look at how long Stephen Ireland stuck around at Man City for...), but over the next few years we'll see thr change. The players we signed in Jan were a huge contrast to what we've bought before, and another 5 or 6 signings in the summer, and the squad is looking very different.

Maybe or they could end up with 4 players that makes the side worse

They did well in January, but that doesn't guarantee they'll be any good this time.

It won't surprise me if it's just 4 or 5 Chris Wood level players just to build a Stoke City type foundation.

I don't see that. Stoke were always a ****ing bore - giant defenders and long balls humped up to target men... they want style and sass as well as success.

Could see them playing it safe though and going for established Prem players though, the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Ivan Toney, Raphina... and sadly maybe DCL. Darwin Nunez is my ****ing wet dream though, and i wouldnt give up hope.

We've got a **** load of dross mind.

Nunez just isn't going to happen mate it'll be much like January

I'm sounding negative I don't mean to lads I think I've just listened to what the club has actually said and realised the reality.

Thats always been my point - we need to get the **** out to get the quality in.

The fact it looks like Longstaff and Dummett will get new contracts suggests we'll only sign 5 or 6 players as we're retaining these two for back up squad players. The 3 who were omitted from the squad know they're not wanted here as do Matty and Hendrick, so it won't be hard to shift them, the issue will be getting Gayle, Darlow, Ritchie, Laecelles, Fernandez etc off the books cos they ain't getting better offers elsewhere.

The eternal optimist in me refuses to give up hope on Nunez.

Will it though? If the first half of the season had been like the second half we'd have comfortably finished in the Euro places.

I think £60m spend on top of the current spend will get comfortably get more than 12th to 14th.

What im saying is that i don't think you have to say "you've got to at least spent XXX amount to get to Europe", as a massive part of it is also set up amd management, West Ham haven't spent that much and they got top 6 last season and likely this season too, whereas Everton have spent a ****tonne (potentially £50m fpr Ali lol) and they might still go down.

Lads Lads Lads.... we spent £40million - say it again and spell it out F.o.r.t.y. ****ING Million - on Dan Burn (3rd choice Brighton defender) and Chris "couldn't get" Wood "in a brothel let alone score a goal" in January - there is no way we aren't pushing over £100m this summer, no if's not buts. The only way we aren't spaffing out ridiculous sums is if we sign up a new XI of the best free transfers available on mad wages.

£1B deals with Saudia and Armaco sponsors for either leg on the shorts and Disney to pay £100B to sponsor the team and have The Fox and the Hound shown on the big screens at HT.

Why wouldn't we spend £100m when we spent £90m in Jan? The owners obviously don't want expectations to get out of hand, so they're not making ridiculous promises to the fans, but they're obviously keen to improve the team.

And why the hate for Dan Burn? He's been decent, and Wood has done a job and him in the team has concided with us going up the league.

What about £20m for Wilson who plays a third of the games on a good season, £12m for Gayle who has 1 goal in the last 27 games, or however much we blew on twinkle toes Murphy.

No hate for him but if you'd told me before the January window we'd splash £40m on those two I'd have lost my freaking mind. BDB has done exceptionally well for us and is a great option as a squad player going forwards - hope he finishes his career here, at his boyhood club and wins some cups with us.

Clear out Clark, Fede and Lascelles though... bring in two CB's in the summer he's going to be 3rd/4th choice. Wood equally - did "a job" - helped the team so while I REALLY don't rate him, when he leaves I'll give him the respect he deserves but if we are getting Ekitike and Nkhetia he'll be 4th choice CF in a team that plays with one striker.
