I do feel our ****housing has gone up a level with Shota... The naivety we began the season with is certainly not there now.
We only played one home game in December which was Bristol City, and we wore the home kit in that game, so I don't think we ever did wear an away kit at home for that initiative. I think last week was the only time we've done it this season. In fact if I remember correctly what I read last week, I think it's only happened three times ever. One being Bradford in 2004/5 when they failed to bring a kit that didn't clash with amber, and once in the 60s, the reason for which I can't remember.
Bollocks to whether it was fa sanctioned or not - it worked. Just as performing today in the home shirt against a rival with survival to play for... It's window dressing. We can finish 17th or 18th if we want it enough. Just play with the freedom and confidence they've earned where the result doesn't mean L1 doom is hanging on their shoulders . They might find they're actually better than they think they are in the last 2 if they keep their commitment and fight to the end.
Well, he’s not an unnatural one. For a right-footed player, he took both his goals yesterday really well with his weaker foot.
Different build up but KLP's finish reminded me of Stewart Pearson's iconic goal against Sunderland. He wasn't a bad finisher either.
KLP's finishing is in question again after him scoring two goals. Strange. His abilities seem to be less appreciated by City fans than anyone else. Baz Cooper talks him up, Shota talks him up, England call him up, bigger clubs want to sign him up and opposition managers constantly talk of fearing him (up?). But an awful lot of City fans on here and on Twitter really focus on the negatives with his game. I've noticed a similar thing with Greaves this week with the player of the year voting; local media all seem to be saying he's their clear winner, but the majority of fans I've seen online are talking him down, and looking for negatives to focus on. In the first half of the season Bernard was getting more praise than Greaves which was absurd, and now McLoughlin probably gets more, which is less absurd but I still disagree with it. Really weird to me, that we've got these two incredible young academy players, who are recognised around the game as being really exciting young players with huge futures, but so many City supporters don't really appreciate them and in fact talk them down. Everyone likes the idea of embracing youth and building academies but when the players actually come out of it we don't seem to want to enjoy and celebrate them.
I think he’s an incredibly talented lad and has the attributes to play at the top level. I think what is holding him back from smashing this league is consistency. If he had a performance like yesterday every week he’d murder most defences without breaking a sweat. I think he can finish, he can take a set piece and he tracks back and does his bit in the defence, which is just as important as troubling defences.
Took my youngest grandson Oliver yesterday as he’s given me earache all season about asking to go. Good solid team performance with Honeyman showing why he needs a contract pronto and KLP must have please any scouts at the game. Thought the game and the crowd had that end of season feel about it at times in the sunshine but overall I thought we played well enough without being punished for once against a side who for me looked dangerous up front but dodgy at the back. Another family member hooked btw… UTT.
If he had a performance like yesterday every week he'd score 92 goals a season. He is quite consistent in his effort and performance, I would say. That doesn't always get you a goal, that's just reality, but it doesn't mean a player hasn't played well.
That's what we need , we've got to build our support back up again , get the local kids supporting Hull City and wearing the shirt with pride
I think it was because the ref pointed where he wanted the free kick from & Baxter kicked the ball about 2 metres forward. He seemed to gesture to the players to come closer to him as he didn’t have a lot of room to run up & kick it, the outcome was, the players didn’t move closer & he did kick it far enough!
I think KLP’s only real weakness is his strength when he comes up against bigger players, if the opposition don’t rough him up, he seems to feel more freedom & has a better game!
I think people just feel the need to try and point out weaknesses in our players done to make them feel superior. And they “see” things others don’t. We all know potter isn’t the finished article but insteadof enjoying him while he’s here we pick and snipe.
Isn’t that what a forum’s about? Making comments about players & managers & then others explaining their point of view on that player. I’ve been harsh on Greaves with his grabbing of players in the box & how he’s going to give away penalties left right & centre, but yesterday I saw a player who, yes grabbed someone, but not in the box, wildly tackled someone, but overall looked a decent player, something that you tend not to see when watching online!
