If supporting Sunderland after all these years has taught me anything, its just have to wait and see. I still fancy and Sunderland MK Dons play off final mind.
Agree 100%. Too many last game disappointments in the past for me to feel confident, especially in the 60s. The number of times We got excited because we only needed a last game win or draw to get promoted or avoid relegation only to to fail. Now I’m like you (and I suspect like most of the olduns on here) and don’t get overly excited and anticipate results. If we get into the playoff final then and only then will I accept that we have a chance of going up, and even then my butterflies will be mostly fear that we mess it up. Sorry, but too many disappointments supporting this crazy club.

Nah, can't agree with you two on this tbh, I don't see the point of football if you can't get excited.

Surely the anticipation, the suspense and the uncertainty is what makes it such a great game.

I'm getting the train over on Friday and can't wait ...

... excitement isn't the same in retrospect.

I'm expecting a win and going above Sheff Wed, Haway the Lads!!!

2 wins this weekend certainly puts the cat amongst the pigeons in the play off race. We could be 4th place, breathing down Rotherham's neck by Monday night. Makes it all the more frustrating that we chucked away 9 points dithering over who to replace Johnson

We are certainly the form team approaching the play-offs - that's all we can ask for. I doubt anyone in the top 6 is looking forward to playing us right now

These players are capable of playing better and, having discovered they can win games without being at their best, will grow in confidence.

I'm really hoping Pritchard plays every game because he's more focused and sets the tone.

And as much as I like Matete I think he's too much of a risk at the moment. If Embleton can play with the same determination and movement he'd be a better option imo. The trouble with him and Neil is that when they start they stroll too much. I know they're confident and talented but they need to work much harder over 90 minutes, we can't afford passengers at any point now.

Same here, at least on the 'wait and see' front.

And of course History is not on our side, our NEVER having WON a Play Off final.

Then again, we had visited Wembley lots of times since 1973, and lost them all, till last year when we broke that duck.

I cam certainly see merit in Neil's preference for experience at this stage of the season. We saw the best and the worst of Matete on Saturday. Pritchard is key IMHO as are the likes of Wright, O'Nien and (bwoak) Evans

Agree about going for experience..a lot groaned at Evans inclusion on Saturday but he had a good game and scored.
We have lots of young fresh legs to bring on as subs when teams are tiring and our second goal epitomized that as they couldn't keep up with Matete's driving run then the quick feet which found Embleton in space to score.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see Neil and Embo starting but it's horses for courses just now and the manager seems to be getting that mostly right, and he holds his hands up and acknowledges when he gets it wrong like the first half on Saturday.

I get excited Smug, when I’m watching a game. If the result takes us higher in the table then I feel satisfaction not excitement. Experience of Sunderland afc has instilled caution within me. In fact, the higher we are the more apprehensive I become, always expecting a collapse. I suppose I’ve become a pessimist. Mind you, when we are successful in a cup or league competition I’m as delighted and excited and celebrate as much as anybody.

Like we always say it's the hope that gets you in the end. I can not be the only one who is having a sneaky glance at second place, we have some hard fixtures ahead but most of the top teams need to play each other and this season has had more twists and turns than an electricians screwdriver. As most are saying one game at a time and let's see where we end up but have a feeling it may be a dramatic last day of the season.

I'm looking at all the fixtures mate whether they're ours or not, it's a league competition and they're all relevant. Whereas I'm expecting us to beat Shrewsbury I'm looking at Plymouth hoping them and Wycombe kick lumps out of each on Friday.

The other games, over Easter, can have a major effect as they did on Saturday. Bolton's equalising goal, again Sheff Wed, was almost as important as Embleton's imo.

As you say it's all fixture and I agree with you that the equaliser was as important in the whole scheme of things, MK dons and plymouth have been on very good runs lately while we have steadied the ship and seem to be heading in the right direction, hopefully Plymouth and the dons are about to have a bit of a wobble like we did but it is just hope at the moment as the gap is quite big and we are quickly running out of games, and I haven't even mentioned Sheffield lol. Like I said it's the hope that gets to us

Plymouth and MK have some awful games to play and Rotherham are on a massive slide. If they lose to Pompey tonight although unrealistic I'd say we have an outside run at the top 2. We'd have to win every game like but there's an outside chance

When the whistle went i cried I thought I would look silly but looking around me.... I was not the only one.
Now i have a bottle of bubbly!

To early to think who we need for next season?

Any of those ****ers who have a go at 09, did you hear him roar when he won a tackle towards the end of the game? He is a viking berserker...

Not gonna lie. If you's lost I would have laughed. You's deserved that today and for the end of season form. Lots of late goals turning a point into 3 and you went in this time as a team in form rather than a team losing form.

Well Done.
