Some pretty strong words from Gareth tbh about the England fans (60 notes a ticket?). I was more surprised that he commented on it, I'd have expected him 'not to hear it' tbh I'm not a fan of booing as I said earlier, it all just seems at bit pantomime to me. Just shout that he/she is "****ing ****" or "that was a **** pass" or "soft as ****" or whatever....but I'm surprised 'booing'is still a thing at football tbh. Kids stuff for Pantomime at Christmas imo.
A boo or cheer is a communal noise that transmits whereas individual comments don't ... ... simple as that.
It just looks strange to me that's all. I don't mind the crowd whistling/jeering for a full time whistle after 8mins injury time or whatever. But the booing is a strange one imo. I've heard a few over the years trying to sound like a machine gun and give it the 'BoooBoooBoooBoooo' in quick succession.
I can not ever recall booing my own team, though there have been times that the urge has been there, (I have been a Sunderland supporter for over 70 years after all). But I don't see how it would in any way help. And if some England Fans feel that the best way to get their £60+ entertainment is by booing their own Team or Players, thats their right. It makes no sense to me. But then the antics of many England fans tend to confuse me on a regular basis. By the same token I don't see that the Manager of any particular Team is going to improve the situation by publicly criticsing his own 'supporters'.
This thread and the last couple of years shows the gap between fans and those involved in football has never been bigger.
Obviously England has some decent players atm, (despite lots of Premier Teams squads having overseas players; (they should be further limited) otherwise we would not qualify for the European or World Cups, which has not always been the case in previous years. I am desperate for England to win, I wind my son up by saying its his fault, cos in his generation they have won nothing, at least my generation won the world cup. However some praise has to go to Southgate for reaching the semi and final of a big tournament. Personally I think he should have been more attacking... but wtf do i know. So i reckon I would stick with him as a manager for a while longer. Harry (slab) Mcguire has not been on top form this season, as manure stutter... however i think he also cops a lot of stick cos he plays for manure...not many other fans like manure.
Man Utd fans may have some cause to boo Maguire but he hasn't done much if anything wrong for England. Find the booing a bit pathetic and counter productive if anything.
His contempt for the English public is staggering. Has he forgot his own playing career? Where his struggles, failures and facing up to their reception was the making of him
I read that Qatar chiefs are upset at Southgate talking about Human Rights abuses, he is told by them to mind what he says... Over to you Gareth..
He needs to be careful. Picks and chooses his public opinion on one thing that then contradicts him self on the next.
