Apparently it's not the first time Rock has upset the smiths once before when his wife said she was boycotting the oscars because of the discrimination towards black actors, Rock commented that Jade plunket Smith boycotting the Oscars was like him boycotting Rihannas knickers, neither of them was getting an invitation in the first place

That's actually quite funny :))

@John Wick I tried to quote your post but don't know what went wrong <doh>
I agree with you Man on the Moon is a great film, one of my favourites. Not everyone gets it though, my missus and daughters think it is terrible, my son and I love it

What staggers me, if you did that in the street you would be done for common assault...this prima donna does it in-front of an International television audience of tens of millions and then receives an Oscar. Also, not sure why he so upset at someone make a joke about his wife's hair (or lack of) when he seems perfectly OK for other men to screw the arse off her with his permission......its a strange world we live in

I'm guessing the latter is something of a facades and it informed the former. I think he's a broken human. She goes out of her way on that red table nonsense to belittle and emasculate him at every turn.

That's not to say I feel any sympathy for him. He acted like a ****ing moronic thug, swaggering around and slapping a bloke half his size.

I see he's now apologised. Which in days gone by would have been the end of it. Today, though, once you apologise you make it even worse, they've got you. It's never forgotten or forgiven, he's admitted wrongdoing and he'll be apologising for the rest of his days.

I bet Chris Rock doesn't apologise.

Just watched it for the first time, that must be the most staged slap I have ever seen, time they both went back to acting school.I would of been 3 streets away by the time that slap connected.

I wondered, at first, but I don't think so tbh.

There's no gain for the slapper or the slapee, in fact it'll cost them both.

And there was no reason for Chris Rock to run away, Smith wasn't shouting or being threatening, he'd actually laughed at the joke. For all Rock knew it was just another part of the proceedings so, being professional, went along with it.

It looked like the slap/punch of a man not used to throwing one ...

... and the face of a man who's never had one before <laugh>

Publicity is the gain, its worth millions to somebody, maybe the organisers.

This could well have been deliberate and, as Clocky said above, all about publicity.

I don't know anybody who had any interest in The Oscars, but 'everybody' is interested now :emoticon-0148-yes: . . . . although I'm not, even though I had a moderate interest yesterday, in fact I'm fecking sick of them now :azn:

I would rather we debated a serious issue, like what difference does it make to keep moving our time pieces backwards and forwards. <doh>

While he was next to him his hand hadn’t left his seat. He had time to ask the next star to come on stage before it hit him, unless he’s the slowest black lad in history, behind Roly Gregoire <laugh>

I doubt the Oscars need publicity tbh, people who watch will still watch but people won't tune in next year hoping for brawls ...

... and, even if the organisers wanted it, what are the chances of them persuading Will Smith to do that?

It certainly didn't do him any good, he just looks a knacker.

I'm basing my opinion on it not being staged on Chris Rocks face afterwards. He looks genuinely shocked/speechless and he's not that good an actor.
