I haven’t been watching the spring budget, but have just noticed that the NI threshold is being raised by £3000. This may help the poorest workers now, but what impact will it have on their future state pension? If people are taken out of the payment range for NI, this could potentially prevent them from accruing 35 years of contributions to qualify for a full pension. Is he being sneaky, and kicking a problem down the road, whilst trying to look generous? Like I say, I haven’t seen the budget, so maybe this has been explained. edit - no wealth tax for big business either, apparently. We know where his loyalties lie
He has no morals and is a LIAR . love her or loath her ( I detested her ) At least even Thatcher had firm beliefs . This THING is prostituting our country !
Ok, Putin’s an inhuman war criminal, but there are people far worse than him walking the earth tonight.
Not only has Sunak raised the UK’s tax burden to the highest level since the 40s, information from the government’s own Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), it seems that the bulk of what he is giving away will be recouped from students. So, not only showing his contempt for the poorest people in the country, but now having a go at students. I hope the student’s unions are on top of this and remind their members before the next election. https://bylinetimes.com/2022/03/23/...K0Sc4Grti5C-_LIzmKO56ZoMeAiMCMLSlsgw0MhAFl624
On the other hand many students are transfixed by the idea that their degrees will lead them on to riches And we have a massive problem in the U.K. (and the same in the US) of having an astonishing number of people who will vote in favour of right wing parties because it will benefit them “if” they become wealthy one day. Never mind that it all becomes less likely under their policies. Never mind that they are actively stealing from you in the meantime to line the pockets of themselves and their mates. No. If one day you might have “pulled yourself up by the bootstraps” and climbed your way into a position of at least semi-affluence you want to make sure their aren’t high taxes on you then. It is truly baffling Just like how people still believe the conservatives are the party that can be trusted with money and the economy. After billions either stolen or given away for no output during covid. And years of no real growth. And now inflation. And the pushing of a disastrous trade policy (brexit). And yet the average person will still give them a higher score the economy because they assume labour are just going to steal all their money So what? Surely they’d rather have all their money “stolen” and plowed into public services rather than the directors and shareholders of Serco and the like? Or what about when people still trot out “oh well - it would have been even worse under Labour / Corbyn”. Really? That claim is never backed up or justified. Almost as if people feel it just goes without saying. And it is starting to look even more wrong as the days go on. As if that were even possible
There always has been, the difference is Putin is openly treating all his real and imagined opponents with contempt, cruelty and a form of viciousness only ever used by his predecessors, Hitler, Pol Pot, Mao Tse Tung, Amin, etc, the name of the Russian people. All forms of this inhumanity are plain evil.
How humiliating for him. Will he learn and change course? Of course not. Imagine what his hero would think if he were alive today and saw a British PM treated this way
