Chelsea might need the money if the owner gets cancelled like I think he will. Heard that the club owe him £1.5bn and he needs it quick so he can cut and run
Not sure that helps us as they might prefer a larger bid to a smaller one with a buyback clause Really our only chance is if they want a buy back as I can’t see a premier league club that would accept that and he would chose above us. So for example - palace or Brighton or the like might agree to a clause but I expect he would choose us Teams like Arsenal and West Ham would not want a clause there. Overseas is another matter but again that is likely only Dortmund. And I think they are getting the Salzburg star striker
Have to say that he is a Chelsea fan ...and has done well by the club. Can throw all the criticism you like at him, but he’s cared about the club more than the United owners have for example
I can’t imagine he really wants to sell. His hand is being forced by looming sanctions and/or the demands of his boss
Not good for us if Chelsea decide to sell Broja (rather than loan him out again, was probably unlikely anyway)....Semmens said in his recent interview that we couldn't afford him. Doesn't help that we are making him look good.
The crumb of comfort I am holding onto is that it was our scouts who flagged that he would be able to make a difference. And the suggestion is if these owners had been in place last summer we might have been able to buy him - 5 year contract or not. Perhaps before he signed it. Our last striker signings are : Broja, Armstrong, Adams and Ings which is quite a good “hit” rate. And we likely need two this summer (one to replace Long’s squad role). So I’d like to think we can get at least one of those two pretty close to right Or perhaps the situation has changed regarding a second loan. Who really knows
The 'Reverse The Mechanism' thread scenarios will now need to include being managed by manager of the month, and we'll STILL keep on winning!
