Already happening apparently, Starmer and Davey are quietly forming a non-aggression pact for the next GE. I posted this last week but here it is again: https://www.ft.com/content/7d10aef7-1ed5-4e0d-a128-858cd0b2e2f0
While we’re doing that, we could face up to the very real social cost of turning London’s property market into an investment vehicle for the international super-rich.
It's not as though we weren't warned. No doubt the cyber security teams are on high alert. I'm going to make sure we have a good cash stash, not huge but a backup to our usual contactless spending.
I did see something about that, it needs to be in place sooner rather than later with the electorate fully informed.
A short video, from Oct 2019, regarding Johnson’s many visits to “Russian Mountain”, a place in Umbria, Italy, in which it claims that MI6 considered Johnson to be a security risk. Obviously I have no proof, but it would be no surprise to me should it later be revealed that Putin has had Johnson by the balls for years. If it were to happen, then I hope he sees jail time for the rest of his life.
Max Hastings, Johnson’s boss when he was a journalist at the Daily Telegraph, described him as “utterly unfit to be prime minister” and a “tasteless joke” being foisted on the British people by the Conservative Party, adding: “Dignity still matters in public office and Johnson will never have it.”
Worth keeping an eye on this guy's tweets - he's the Telegraph and Guardian source out there at the moment. A lot of visual content.
This is so incredibly worrying. Been thinking about all of the outcomes and basically all of them are really bad. I honestly think the best outcome for us in the UK now would be Russia take Ukraine as quickly as possible with minimum casualties and pray Putin stops there. Meanwhile US/EU/Nato must deploy as many resources as we can to the local allies and hope there is no provocation. Almost all other outcomes lead to war between nuclear powers. All the while it looks like China will probably escalate tensions with Taiwan whilst the west is pre-occupied.
I don't agree that is the best outcome at all. Russia will not stop there if they take Ukraine easily. The best outcome is for Russia to take massive casualties and discover that Ukrainians will die to protect their freedom. The best outcome is for the world to send freedom fighters into that country and fight Russia at their own underhand games. Putin has played a huge card here and if he doesn't get the overwhelming and convincing win to prove Russian glory he may have shot himself in the foot. It is a small hope but one I am clinging to.
There is no good outcome from this terrible situation. I'm afraid 'hope' is not a word I'll ever apply to this insane leader, he has very regrettably proved some of his harshest critics absolutely right in that he will only ever understand and operate in the tools of force and brutal oppression. This guy will use the N button if he feels cornered without an escape hatch to run to. Our best hope is that the Russian people who have provided our world with such great gifts of culture will find a way to erase this man and his army of cronies from the history of the human race. He needs no encouragement to stop what he is doing as he believes his path is the right one, in the past, present and future. We face grave times ahead and a total reset of many current relationships including our own culpability with illegal money funding things in the UK, from dodgy donations to property deals etc etc. I cannot understand why it has taken UEFA, for example, so long to decide what they need to do next, small beer of a decision compared with the families who now face being homeless, stateless and personal loss on a scale not seen in Europe for 80 years, and not sure where to go.
You are correct of course. My apologies I was selfishly thinking of the best outcome for the UK when I said best outcome. I simply meant I don’t think we can allow ourselves to be seen to be involved by Putin. His veiled threat of nuclear war should be taken seriously.
