I've never had an issue with them, apart from wondering why they stand in the 'tunnel' between the stand and the concourse when we're all trying to leave at half time.
If there is a reason I don't see why they don't at least all stand on one side instead of both sides as it effectively half the width of teh tunnel, which is presumably that width for a reason.

The Police do the same, and I have asked the same of them too.

I've asked the same questions. It's similar on the walkway too particularly at the top of the stairs after games. It makes no sense that I can see.

We have one in the South stand actaully does that every match stands right in the middle as you enter the stand before the game, absolute jobsworth, theres no need for it and lacks any common sense.

I'm sure the designers didn't build in human roundabouts!

People flow through doors and corridors etc is actually a really technical design process, with huge amounts of modelling etc...and then someone stands in the way!

Good to know the concerns of the Supporters Trust are involving people in another move of stands rather than addressing issues which detract from the "match day experience".

I politely asked one of the numerous PC's bunging the entrance up if they'd mind sharing what their role was described as at the pre-match briefing. They frowned and beckoned the other Officers over, and were quite hostile, and doing their best to be intimidating.

I explained that I was curious because, in the event of an emergency evacuation, their location meant they'd either have to be the first to leave, and therefore be of no value, or they'd be in the way if they stayed where they were, or worse still, trying to go against the flow to get to 'some other' location to perform some undetermined function.

The ones from there didn't get involved in any action beyond that which the stewards already did, and for their own policy reasons, anything beyond that required the robo-cops.

I never really got an answer to any of that, so I asked what they feed back at the de-brief, and how their activities are measured as success or failure.

The best they could say was 'they're on-duty' and then with no sense of irony, said I couldn't stand in the entrance, as I was causing an obstruction. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Had a similar problem with one who asked me if I had a problem when walking up the terracing and stopping in front of him and I replied yes, I had a problem, someone was impeding my exit. If it had been some young lad saying that no doubt they would have marched him out of the ground.

More of less sums up the lack of engagement between police and the public nowadays...A polite answer and a quick chat would have left you saying something positive about them.

Instead of that they're portrayed as obnoxious ****s and it's pretty much deserved!!

it's always best to wait till there's a push to get down the tunnel, position yourself at the same side as plod and then push into him in the crush and tell him to get out of the ****ing way

As a polar opposite of DMD's encounter,I was talking to 3 policemen kitted out in riot gear in George SQ,Glasgow during COP 26.

3 massive(6' 6" all of them) lads up from Liverpool of all places.Had a chat for a good 10 minutes with them regarding a few topical issues, could not have been more pleasant.

Out of respect I covered up my ACAB tattoo:emoticon-0148-yes:
