Short interview with KLD but from my recollection Johnson dismissal not just one result but a culmination of things Prioritised transfer window over appointing manager Manager hunt started early this morning Huge interest from all over the world Will take time to appoint right person Defoe joining as player only but will be an influence on other players
Isn't there a process to go through these days, you can't just appoint a new manager straight away. For example there has to be at least one candidate of colour interviewed. Am I allowed to say that? No offence meant to anyone if I've said something wrong. We may well have a specific candidate in mind but we have to follow rules is perhaps the way I should have phrased it.
Sounds like we had started to plan for a new manager but brought it forward after the weekend, as they didn’t trust LJ to pull us out of this slump.
they may well have been looking at who could be available, would be stupidity not to especially if this has indeed been a 'build up' of circumstances to the sacking of LJ...decorum would dictate that they wait till after any sacking before going public about the new man and protocol will need to be followed, i expect they already had a damn good idea/short list they would like but will conduct interviews so all looks good and does not shove anyones nose in it.
I think that we will have a list of people that we would be interested in, which will be kept under review. I just have the feeling that we a far more professional organisation these days. Hope I've not been too optimistic
Well yes and there is only one applies they are guaranteed an interview Though not the job I think this is one of Sol Campbell's big gripes gets short listed for loads of jobs and interviews but has no chance of getting the job. Though in case case there may be an obvious reason for not getting the job.
Hadn't thought of that just assumed we would pay up contract and both sides are happy. Then again we could always put him on gardening leave until he gets another job or contract runs out. Yeah might as well just pay up
If true, it’s utterly ridiculous! Surely enforcing this is almost back handed racism? If Sol Campbell is the only person of colour to apply, we have to interview him despite the fact that, if he was appointed as manager, he’d be almost as hated as someone like Shearer from minute 1?
Doesn't say you have to hire him. Where I work now proudly has a link on their website stating how anyone internal from BAME background applying for a managers position is guaranteed an interview!
pretty sure that it is basic, standard practice now and the reason every application form will ask which ethnic group you belong too, been a while since i was 'in the loop' so to speak but at one point a company basically had to have a certain % of staff of none white persuasion and some disabled on their books...not quite sure how they expected that to work or if common sense came in and they realised that on at least some jobs having certain disabilities would actually be a health and safety risk to that person and probably those around him/her. if a company did not fill it's quota of interviews inclusive of all races/religions/whatever they could be heavily fined...which would be a bit of a bugger if only white people applied.
The Rooney Rule is a National Football League policy that requires league teams to interview ethnic-minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. It is an example of affirmative action, even though there is no hiring quota or hiring preference given to minorities, only an interviewing quota. It was established in 2003, and variations of the rule are now in place in other industries.
