I wonder if JD is a present for the fans for their loyalty. I’m sure he thinks it’s a win win situation to give the club a lift will be worth his weight in gold.
Also what Nig said earlier getting Roy would get the place buzzing whatever happens, also if it fails we can all blame Nig.<laugh>

Jermaine brought joy to wee Bradley's short life and showed us there is more to life than football and we all need reminding of that once in a while. Another premier-league rape arrest in Manchester this weekend shows how low players can sink, while JD shows how high they can rise. Plus, his presence alongside Stewart will scare league one defenders to death. This weekend Nadal showed us that class and commitment can stave off the years, and from what I've read there are few footballers who look after themselves as well as JD. Get him signed.

I’ve found it baffling why fans think a top professional footballer turns into Albert Steptoe just because they are 39.

Looks like AOB, as we suspected, will leave providing there's no hitch with Defoe ...

... for anyone unsure about JD coming back, who'd you prefer on the bench.

Its not his age, Totti, Maldini, Buffon, all played on into their 40s at the top level. Its more that he's not played much for the last two years.

That means he will be fresher. If he was a starter fair enough but the thinking is he will mainly be an impact sub.

It's probably harder to get in Rangers side than a league 1 side tbf

He’s been assistant manager more recently than that.
He wants to get back in and I think feels he’s been a bit unfairly labelled as a failure which I agree is harsh. I believe he’d have a point to prove.
    Keane or Terry for me.

I detest John Terry!! But that’s not to say I don’t think he’d be a decent gaffer!! But it’d be a big risk

That is a statement to say the least. No matter what, you try your hardest. We win that gane and go top. If they simply thought “meh, he’s gone anyway” then I wouldn’t want them anywhere near my club personally!!

Defoe close to completing Sunderland deal
Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth on The Transfer Show:

"I'm told that the deal for Sunderland to sign Jermain Defoe is now very close. I'm told his representatives and Sunderland's representatives are currently finalising the paperwork on a deal until the end of the season.

"Sunderland fans love him. He's been there before 2015 to 2017 and scored 37 goals in 93 appearances. A number of League One clubs were interested. What a way it would be to end his career by re-joining Sunderland to get them promoted back to the Championship

I just don't think he's intelligent enough for the set up we have.

    I don't believe he'll ever make a manager ...

... much like Sol Campbell and Tony Adams.

Fair comment, and obviously I'm only speculating .
We are talking about modern day fickle footballers though :D

What is so sophisticated about the set up?
Bringing in loans and freebies is hardly groundbreaking stuff is it.
Terry will command respect immediately unlike Johnson who I can fully imagine being a complete laughing stock among the players.
A big name like him will give the place a much needed lift after the last bunch of no hopers who’ve shuffled through the door!

He comes across as being a bit thick like Campbell and Adams ...

... I don't think any of them will succeed as a manager.

Most fans think he's a jumped up little prick - not the lift you think he would give. Think back to receiving the cup in the full get up in a game he never played in, the totally embarassing being clapped off in his last game for Chelsea against us. He comes across as always thinking about number one - not the qualities you want in a manager. I want him nowhere near the club!
