The 21-year-old winger has moved to the Stadium of Light on loan until the end of the 2021-22 season.

A Leeds United academy graduate, Clarke made his senior debut for the Whites in October 2018 and he was named the club’s Young Player of the Year following a breakthrough 2018-19 campaign.

The England Under-20 international moved to Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee in July 2019, signing a four-year contract at White Hart Lane before returning to Elland Road on loan.

Clarke spent the second part of the 2019-20 season at Queens Park Rangers before making his Spurs debut for Jose Mourinho’s side in a 3-0 UEFA Europa League victory over Austrian Football Bundesliga side LASK.

The versatile forward, who can operate on either flank or centrally, joined Stoke City on loan in January 2021 and played 14 times for the Potters before injury brought a premature end to his campaign.

Clarke returned to action for Spurs’ Under-21 side earlier this season and has registered three goals in his last four games, whilst also featuring for the North Londoners’ senior outfit in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The winger said: “I can't wait to get started. I'm from this part of the world, so I know this is a massive club and what it means to the fans. I'm looking forward to playing at the Stadium of Light and the prospect of being part of the team that takes the club back to the Championship. I want to help the team as much as possible, whether that's goals or assists, and ensure we reach that end goal."

Lee Johnson added: “Jack is a talented player and having followed his progress over the past few years, I feel like he’s really grown on the pitch throughout the past six months and found a maturity to pair with that talent. The competition for places in our final third is strong and we want to be able to change games as we move into the back end of the season. Jack understands that this is a big club with a lot to play for, but he wants to be an influential player for us and help to ensure we have a successful end to the season.”

Don't know anything other than what I have read just now. Where's Defoe though?

Yep, born in York.

Style of play

Clarke is a versatile forward, who can play as a winger on either side. He can also play as a striker. He is known for his pace and his dribbling skills, as well as his ability to run at opposition defenders and take them on.

Personal life

Former Leeds United and Republic of Ireland left-back, Ian Harte, acts as Clarke's agent.

some newspaper punter said he should have went to a championship club, but there is not much difference for a top 6 league one club like us to a say mid table championship team, and he will get regular football here surely, to have Mcgeady(maybe another couple of weeks away) Pritchard, Djacku, the new Man c player, Embleton, what a midfield we have now, we need another striker or two though, the Morecambe/Oxford strikers ? and Grigg needs to get his finger out as a squad player maybe he would go to Morecambe plus harris on loan for them.

Most probably hopefully will help him settle quickly knowing a few faces. Huggins and him played in Heworth under 8s together then moved to Leeds academy apparently.

Talking of Huggins, when is he back? Looked really promising before he got injured.

Don’t know much about Clarke, but Leeds fans seem to rate him from his time there.

As Smug alludes to, the fact that clubs like City, Bayern & Spurs are sending us players clearly shows that in football circles folk are seeing a club doing things right.

Mad that we still have folk pushing the agenda that Tweedledum & Tweedletwat are still pulling the strings with their minority stakes.

People claiming Donald is still in charge are either Mags in disguise or should be sectioned.

It is a very unusual mindset .

We all get it wrong sometimes, and that's what's happened here IMO.

Some are still believing that no-one would take us over, and believing that the chancers are still influential is a way to tell themselves they were right all along.

Very odd indeed.

But, good luck Jack, welcome and enjoy it!

Posted that before I watched it but, again a young lad who seems to have his head screwed on properly. 'no loan is a bad loan', it's great to hear. A lot of graft on assessing the character of these lads as well as ability imo. Loving the recruitment so far
