Super Klev on SMB (Usually, extremely reliable) saying that as it stands, he expects Defoe to re-sign for us!
Love the way we are doing business nowadays. The lad has very little chance of breaking through here, especially if we aim to get promoted. Better to sell him, even if for buttons, but retain a sell on fee, than to lose him entirely for free as he hasn't developed enough and lost his career as a result. Works out better for us, better for Hawkes, and better for Tranmere. It's exactly what Spurs and to a lesser extent City have done with Cirkin and Roberts for us.
gone on too long for me now, if he does i will be a happy chappy as i believe on and off the field he will be an excellent influence but if he chooses elsewhere then good luck to the lad. i just hope should he join us it is on the right terms and he does not end up with the rest of the squad feeling 'resentful' that this 'legend of the game' has come in and taken over...although from all i have seen of defoe over the years i do get the impression he will just slot in like any other player, he has never seemed to be the type to blow his own trumpet
He is or has very strong links to Dave Jones I would say. Started popping up with info when Tony Coton and Dicky Hill were turfed out. He's got a pretty much flawless record (including saying that Poyet wasn't coming when literally everyone else was saying it was done) however it's worth noting that he's saying it's 'as things stand' and I know it's cliched but things absolutely do change.
yet we still get all the prats calling for Johnson’s head based on absolutely nothing. I can’t wait for them to eat their words.
I'd heard Garbutt to us was all done a couple of summers ago when he was heavily linked. It was a friend of a friend thing, not my info, but I posted it, and he immediately replied and told me it was wrong and wasn't happening, sure enough he was spot on. You also know he's genuine because he says what he wants to and then stops posting.
With the outgoings you've alluded to and the players you know we're after are you confident we'll be significantly stronger on 1st Feb than we were 1st Jan?
so Big, demanding centre back and leader straight into the side - please log in to view this image One fit Hume in on the right, one crocked Hume on the left out - Fringe players out to boost their career, we get sell-ons (Younger, Hawkes) - Pretty good work, so far. Defoe looking good for the role as poacher/additional striker (and coach) - Just need a big, solid centre midfielder to tie it all together.....if I'm greedy, another physically big striker.
