Anyone seen much of his potential replacement, Ali Koiki? Barnesy is reporting we're close to signing him. It would make sense for us to have a ready made replacement if we're making ourselves short letting Hume go.

I haven't seen Koiki, but a mate of mine who follows Northampton regularly speaks very highly of him....even very, very highly..... and mentioned to me last week that our recruitment lads had been watching him, along with a number of Championship clubs. With us having Cirkin and Hume,I kind of dismissed it,but......what do I know?:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Players I'd suggest MIGHT want a move

Flannigan - he has said before he sees himself as championship standard.
Wright - was close to leaving in summer, maybe he has now got his mind set on a change.
Gooch - been here a long time and needs a new challenge , sick of playing a different position every game.
AoB - obvious one to be fair.
Embleton - I've never been convinced that he wanted to come back from Blackpool and after a good start, personally I think he's dipped a bit since. Won't play when everyone fit.
Mcgeady - I thought he might retire this window if club got replacements
09 - possibly wants to go back to being an attacking midfielder again and not various defensive roles. (I don't even believe this myself, just throwing up ideas)

Its worth remembering that we are only one window (and a half) through a complete rebuild of getting shot of the squad that has failed for 3 seasons. There's plenty more to go yet.

Can't see it being McGeady or O'Nien this window considering their injuries. The other's I'd all agree with.

Clarke feels to me to be a like for like (but better) replacement for Gooch - so that's where my gut is.

PS whether any of us want to keep Hume or not, how fecking marvellous is it that the club have managed to get him to sign a contract to provide a bit of cover, and are now getting some sort of fee for him (even if minor?)

The old Sunderland would have just released him.

He's now one of very few players we've made a profit on in the last decade.

You also have to question Pompey's planning. He was available on a free in the summer...

On a free but injured and would have had to pay us compensation anyway due to his age. Makes sense to wait until he's fit again (temporarily) and the fee won't be anything more than 200k IMHO

How refreshing to see the club being run properly.

I don’t rate Hume at all so think this is a good move for all parties.

Previous regimes would have sold him the instant Pompey made contact and he'd had played the game of his life for them on Sat. Sensible to refuse to do the deal until we've played (hopefully) for the last time in a while

I like the lad and think without the injuries he could have had a good career here but 67 starts in 4 seasons tells it's own story

Hmm not sure if I would sell on...is Cirkin (going to be) permanent?

We often have an issue with covering LB.

Got to assume we have a LB lined up. Not a chance we'd weaken our squad in an area where we have struggled these last couple of seasons.

Maybe Johnson things Gooch, T.Hume or Doyle can do a job there should Cirkin get injured and it frees up wages to do something else in the squad.....

Guess we'll know more by 1st Feb
