What a lot of bedwetting - McCann has been responsible for that horrendous run in the Championship, was it 6 points out of 60 , that 8 0 defeat by Wigan when he clearly lost the dressing room, a stubborn refusal to change his philosophy even though we were losing again and again - some of that form has continued this season, without Derby and Reading receiving points deductions we would be sitting one place above the relegation places and now all of a sudden after 2 wins in a week he has become the messiah even though we were ****e in the Stoke game --- enough - we have a new owner who has taken us over from the Allams, he said he was going to invest in the club at least give him the time to prove himself rather than shoot him down because he is getting rid of McCan who clearly has failed spectacularly at Championship level. We have exciting times ahead, at least embrace it rather than react negatively at the first sign of change and more importantly give them a chance

This, one hundred percent.

2 fantastic final results granted, before that 2 points out of 15 including an utterly abject performance v Stoke. A decent November, before that a poor August, September and October. An incredible arrogance & stubborness, one that cost us dearly the season before last, and only changed once he literally had no other choice.

Like it or not, it was inevitable. Dawn of a new exciting era. Onward and upward ... but still, not naive enough to a) expect everything to click and be positive from day one, and b) to not realise that Acun's tenure could go spectacularly wrong. I'm very happy to see us taking the risk after the past few years with the now replaced regime.

Grant McCann’s tenure as manager of Hull City manager is over, following the £30m takeover by Acun Ilicali last week.

McCann will be relieved of his duties at a meeting on Monday morning with Ilicali and director of football Tan Kesler, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half-year reign as head coach.

Speculation has been rife for months that McCann would lose his job once the takeover has been completed, and Saturday’s terrific 1-0 win at AFC Bournemouth was his final City game in charge, having backed up the 2-0 success against Blackburn Rovers last Wednesday night shortly after Ilicali’s deal was completed.

Ex-Ajax, Rangers and Trabzonspor star Shota Arveladze, 48, will take over from McCann, with his arrival expected to be confirmed on Tuesday, Hull Live understands.

Arveladze, a former Georgian international has managed previously and worked as assistant to manager to Louis van Gaal, Ronald Koeman and Dick Advocaat at AZ in Dutch football.

Wonder if all the back room staff are going?
Pennocks made of Teflon isn’t he?

They'd be daft not to pick up the phone and ask the question. I think he can get a bigger club if he's willing to drop back down to L1. A Charlton/Portsmouth/Bolton would be a great move for him. At least then, if they go up you have a better chance of competing than you do at P'boro where it's always going to be an uphill struggle to stay in the Championship.

Regardless of where he goes, I expect him to take a lot of players that have been here

Indeed, I would go for a Div 1 side, as he has more chance of success there than in the Championship. Nevertheless, I believe he still lives in the Peterborough area, so geographically it would suit him, and if they are doomed to go down, then I guess it might suit him to wait until the season finishes.

As you say, I'm sure wherever he goes, some of our players will be on his wanted list.

Gimme his number I’ll tell him
Most pointless signing going

He's certainly a keep your socks on signing (if it still happens).
But genuine question, without signing him, who covers for Smallwood rest of this season? Could have been Alfie Jones, but can hardly count on him and it seems he sees himself as a CB anyway.

I've a feeling Elder might not make the cut, seems to be injured a lot these days, or is that my imagination?

I think more unfortunate than anything. Impact injury end of last season, then was back and playing well for us, before this latest injury which seemed unrelated. 20 appearances this season out of our 27 games played isn't too shabby.

He's also a full International now, adds a bit of glamour.

Sure, just a feeling though.

That Bournemouth game could have been over at half time, thankfully they squandered all their chances. Even in the November run the defence was weak in a couple of games at least. I don't blame it all on McCann, he wasn't given money to improve the team. But now there is money it's time to make a new start and have the coaching and players to defend better (such as in set pieces). Any confidence is brittle if the defence can't be relied on.

I wonder if a few in the club office might be a bit relieved that there is a new coach and staff coming in.

We need a coach/manager with some charisma and warmth towards the support.
Someone who looks beyond the players and coaching staff, to build relationships off the football pitch.

All of this “magnificent support today” means **** all of you have only waved to the support once or twice. On Saturday there was a young kid with a sign that said “In Grant We Trust”. He should have had at least a bit of attention from Grant. But nothing. Never even came across. Every one says we need to encourage young supporters, but that was a bad call. By the way, I think signs asking for a players shirt should be banned, I hate them. But a you kid being acknowledged, gets more than that kid hooked, everyone feels good about it. Just look at how Acun has used these types of opportunities.
