I am not sure there will be an onslaught. Might be missing the mood. For me we know our football and signing a 39 year old who hasnt played in 2 years most will see it is a romantic signing only. Lets be honest he isnt what we need for the promotion push. Lets also be honest if the view inside the game was he could still do it, he would have been on the pitch for someone at the weekend. A quick call ti Gerard to ask if he can still cut it at the pointy end is all it would take. This is a 6 month gig and every game that passes is one less to have an impact. If he really wanted a playing deal he would have had it last week, somewhere.
