Derby County look doomed ...

One of the rumours around Derby now is that if they do go into liquidation then the EFL want to re-instate them into league 2. The whole thing gets messier each day. There have been discussions in parliament this week (and if you havent seen it watch the MP for Bury speak - brilliant). Ashley still trying to do a deal. Some American has made a bid. They only have a week to meet the EFL deadline. Middlesborough and Wycombe not backing down. All this whilst on the pitch they are playing well. They were unlucky not to get something yesterday.

I reckon the EFL have got themselves into a right hole with this one. They are being made to look wholly unfit for purpose. I honestly think this will be the end of the EFL as it stands. They have only themselves to blame.

Absolutely correct about the EFL. The most charitable description of whom would be that they are incompetent.

They clearly should have docked Derby last year, but hoped they would go down anyway and then do it. Pathetic, and not the first time.

Wycombe have a case alright, but it's not against Derby. Derby, by following the instruction of their league's governing body are not to blame here. Wycombe should be claiming against the EFL. The same EFL that more or less awarded them a promotion in the first place!

Boro have only a marginal, hypothetical case which would not last a morning in court. But they too should be claiming against the EFL, who made the mess, and not Derby.

The same EFL, on whose board sits a Boro representative I believe?

Neither Boro or Wycombe will get anything. Derby can't pay, and if the actions of these two clubs prevent a takeover there will be no club to claim from anyway.

It is a grotesque mess, a mess only a deeply flawed, complacent and amateur group of blazers could make.

The non existent hair on my napper curls at the thought that the chancers could gave brought us to this pass ourselves.

It appears that Ashley is playing the waiting game in regard to a takeover for Derby, probably thinking others will blink and walk, then he can waltz in and buy them.

The stadium has always been a stumbling block for their takeover, and I think Ashley is willing to buy the ground back off Mel Morris, for so much less that what Morris wants for it.

That's my understanding anyway.

That is the view around Derby mate. He is the best option for them by far, but rightly wants the stadium. Rumour is isnt by bothered about Boro or Wycombe. I do just wonder if he will wait for liquidation and get them for nowt as a league 2 club, if indeed the EFL are prepared to offer that.

My guess is EFL will blink this week and give Derby a stay of execution. Possibly another points deduction, suspended until end of season.

There is talk of a massive show of anger at tbe EFL next Saturday. Home to Birmingham, live on Sky. Birmingham fans likely to support it. It may well be last game. I am tempted to go down myself and try and get interviewed by Sky, just to say I am Sunderland and all clubs think the EFL are hopeless. Depending on what happens this week I will pop down with my lad anyway, bit of moral support.

Rooney has done bloody well there. They play good stuff, score late goals and fight for each other.

How he has kept their heads up is amazing. Think he has even hoyed some of his own cash in to help out a bit.

He's surprised me.

He has been doing some promotional stuff for his documentary on Netflix and I think he comes across OK. Seems a lot more mature these days. I assume he has good coaches around him as well but he will end up being a PL manager at some point and fair play to him

not rooneys or derbys biggest fan here but i honestly hope they stay up, rooney and the players doing great considering the knock backs and the EFL deserve to be made to look like feck wits over this (which, let's face it, is how most view them anyway)

The supporters of clubs who have been beaten by DCFC the last couple of years are ones I feel sorry for. I agree the authorities are inept, nevertheless
Derby spent/gambled on getting to the Premiership illegally.
DCFC deserve relegation.

He has every chance of keeping them up in my opinion. Reading are there to be caught. Derby have this never say die attitude under Rooney, he has definitely got the Fergie touch when it comes to late winners. They have some good young lads who run all day and some experienced lads who have seen it all before. On the touchline Rooney looks every inch a coach as well. I think he will go on and become a top level one.
