No i am not condoning him, he has done wrong, but i wont be one of those attacking him because i have not followed the rules myself. Its a pity a lot more people dont keep their gobs shut.
Why

He was at least at one of them, wasnt he? Also, as its his place of residence, whether he is there or not he is still 'hosting' it. He must have endorsed them surely? Somebody else organising 2 parties at once at the residence of our Prime Minister, at the eve/morning of Prince Phillip's funeral, during pandemic restrictions, without the knowledge of our Prime Minister would be taking the piss and totally unbelievable!

There really is a high chance of Johnson knowing nothing about some of these dos. It is a very big undertaking, and relies completely on a set staff to run it.

He will of course have to shoulder the blame, but there is no chance that he , or any other PM controls all the comings and goings there. They are not even always there. They have Chequers, and other reasons for not being there, but functions continue.

I don't know about Johnson's time yet, but in Blair's time there, though he lived often at No 11 as it was more familiy friendly, he was said to be there about half of the time.

I'd imagine that Johnson has been at NO10 more , because Covid has completely dominated his time, but he ,or his wierd wife, will not be running that place like a normal house.

...and yet, we the public still turn out in our millions to vote for one or the other, although i grant you the turn out is slowly getting smaller each time.

we all hold differing opinions on this but i feel labour really lost itself once blair became leader and have struggled to be 'torybour' since with no real direction...anyone even slightly resembling the labour leaders of old are shot down in a media flame, all our politicians do now is make money for themselves and their relatives/rich school chums.
The difference is now they are turning out to vote for the least s hit party. Makes you want to weep.

No, the 200k refurbishment scandal is the flat above no. 11

The opposition have the sun and express exposing starmer hypocrisy as he was pictured having a bottle of beer in Durham...

As I said earlier, he is unlikely to have broken the rule there, though he had been pressing for much tighter restrictions at the time , and has done all along.

But he did refuse to answer questions on this event, presumably thinking there no pics.

But more than likely he has been at other functions which have similarly been either on or over the edge of what was meant to be done. Hard to see any politician not being really, and this probably explains his reluctance to get involved with this, leaving the work to the BBC and the press. Fair enough.

Mind, if you can run over a cyclist in broad daylight, while driving on the wrong side of the road, sending the lad to hospital with a broken arm, and scarper before the police arrive, and still not find yourself examined by the media, you don't have much to worry about!

I don't imagine that the information that most of them get is that much different to what is presented to the public. Those in the most important positions might get the more detailed interpretation from the scientists. I don't think those in No. 10 have any greater capacity to understand what they're told than the general public which, lets face it, isn't great. I really don't think there's any conspiracy of any kind. People in government don't want to have to follow the rules any more than anyone else wants to. They've chosen to ignore their own rules thinking they won't get caught out. And they have, the idiots.

so this would basically leave us a couple of options, depending which we want to believe.

one is that they really are being told something completely different to us 'common folk' which then begs the question of 'why?'

the other is that these people in power are as far gone as their first sh1te and just as thick.

neither of which fills me with much hope, to be honest because in my mind you lead by example...as i said in another thread somewhere (may even have been this one) i am no great fan of royalty but watching the queen sit alone at her husbands funeral is a great example of this, i am sure none would have begrudged her some support from a family member on such an occasion then to find out that our elected 'leaders' are breaking just about every rule they themselves put forward for everyones safety, well, words fail me.

I think its the second option. They're really not very bright. They're also arrogant and think they can get away with things without much effort to hide them. The days of the country being run by the sharpest intellects are long gone.

The idea that people are organising parties in Downing Street, behind the PM's back, is ridiculous.

"Yes I invited 100 people while you were at Chequers and hoped you wouldn't find out."
You can imagine when he’s off to bed and wondering why the floor is covered in sausage roll crumbs and his fridge is full of cheese and pickle onions on sticks <laugh>

That's the problem, he's had a bottle of beer while visiting somewhere so will struggle to claim he is squeaky clean

I've absolutely no idea tbh, there has been so many changes to the rules it's difficult to be sure.

I would very much doubt it although, in my defence, I don't make the rules.

I've certainly not done anything like throwing a drinks party with dozens of people present.
You're correct when you say you aren't the one making the rules so it isn't the same as it is for Boris Johnson. I agree with that. I've not followed the rules 100% myself.

We were in lockdown when covid was rampant and nobody was double vaccinated and boosted when you posted this...

You were told off by Flanders and others, on there, for disrupting the thread and making it personal. I told you to stop obsessing about me after you'd stated you wouldn't come on starting your stupid arguments ... and here you are again doing repeating the pattern.

The post on the pre-Wembley thread was a tongue in cheek 'in joke' with me and a couple of other posters, there aren't 100 people in the village, let alone ones we know. I said later in the thread, and elsewhere, that I watched alone as I expect most people did

As it happens I was taking part in the SAFSEE Zoom broadcast with Frankie and Danny ... alone, so the evidence was there for all to see.

What you don't understand, how could you, is that various posters have visited these properties, over the years, and there's often a sub-text in our posts. I'll be seeing one of them at Accrington today by coincidence.

Now ffs give it a rest and stop disrupting threads and picking arguments as you promised the board you'd do.

Well said Smug,if you dont like it,hit it:emoticon-0100-smile.

I obeyed the rules 100%.

The PM is a ****
So did I as far as I know, mate. Even this Christmas Eve I tested positive on a lateral flow so went for a pcr. As I had to stay in the house I missed out on Christmas Day visiting the parents and a few others, fortunately the pcr was negative but I still missed out as I didn’t get the result till Christmas night. But these ****ers are taking the piss but it’s ok cos we’ve all done wrong at sometime or another.
