The longer Boris stops on the better chance Labour have of winning the next election. Labour call for his resignation now, but only to strongly emphasize to the floating voter that he and his close circle are a bunch of Hurrah Henry's who, unlike previous leaders, are even incapable of keeping their disdain for the Average Joe behind closed doors.
If they all buggered off to somebodies private country gaff or swanky studio flat to indulge in these parties there still would have been outrage no doubt. But to have these sneaky do's at 10 Downing Street also makes you question whether these people have the right mentality to help run the country. They either couldnt give a **** or are as thick as ****.........or probably both!
If Boris's and his close bunch of loony's are chucked overboard today and are replaced by a more stable unit to steady the ship, that would be disastrous for Labour. Thats why he is losing support from even some of his allies. They want him out now. They can no longer afford him and their party to continue stumbling from one scandal to another towards the next election.

Although they also have to consider the fact that there's nobody who connects to the electorate like him, and it looks like there's only crackpots to replace him. The gamble is whether it's worth keeping him and hoping voters see all this as ancient history come election time. What it's definitely done is ensure the next election won't be along shortly, it'll be the last possible day.

On this ground Starmer is guilty of hypocrisy, but nothing else. This event has been known about for a while, he has been asked about it, and refused to answer, assuming there were no photos.

I have no doubt at all that the rules as they stood were barely broken, if broken at all on this evidence, though it is true to say that Starmer was calling for far greater restrictions at the time, a stance his party has maintained: we would still be in lockdown now had their publicly declared demands been met.

Johnson will leave government by the summer. Starmer will then, even with the BBC in pretty full on support mode, have to do more than say nothing, or demand more government restrictions.

He has an open goal, but he might well miss it. His own past of hypocrisy is still there:

Accepting a knighthood while opposing the monarchy.

Calling into question the role of the police and then accepting the role of Head of DPPs.

Trying to wrap himself in a metaphorical Union Jack, after having engaged in covert talks with the EU, and actually being a signatory to a letter telling Barnier to press for the hardest possible terms in the hope of another referendum. He actually forced this position onto his party, helping it towards it's obliteration.

A week is a long time in politics as the old saw has it. And it is as true now as when Wilson coined it.

Three years is an eternity . Johnson will be gone and, Starmer, while clearly a competent manager, has an appalling lack of talent in his shadow cabinet and is still beholden to Union influence, whatever he might hope. He also has the public charisma of a wet fish, which shouldn't matter, but seemingly does.

He could though completely defuse this matter, by publicly declaring that on no other occasion in the last two years has he done anything else of this kind. If he has, he can expect, sooner or later to see some other pictures emerge, as these days it's barely possible for anyone to have a ****e without someone, somehow taking a bloody picture. It just depends on the energy of those looking, or a committed individual hording or exposing it.

But, by and large, from my point of view, may a vile pox descend on all their sudsidised houses.

Couldn’t put that last paragraph any better myself, if someone actually blew up the Houses of Parliament with them all in it, I would be more concerned with the damage it has done to the climate than any of the twats inside it.

I would very much doubt it although, in my defence, I don't make the rules.

I dont know personally of anybody who has 100% stuck to the rules. I also dont know personally of anybody who has hosted parties during lockdown either. Theres a difference between forgetting to put your mask on in Tesco's to hosting a series of pissups at the countries most important and closely scrutinized political building.

But, as obviously culpable as Johnson is, he did not actually " host," here.

It will be interesting to see if the civil servant involved gets even a bollocking. He certainly won't be sacked. The Civil Service at that level has been beyond control for years, and cannot ever forgive the UK departing the EU.

The way I see it, those of us that have followed the rules aren't doing it because the government/Boris/the Conservative Party have told us to. We're doing it because the scientists and medical experts have told us to, and because its the right thing to do to protect ourselves and other people. Because of that, I don't feel like Boris, Rees Mogg etc are laughing at me. If anything, I'm laughing at them because: 1. By not following the rules they're putting themselves at unnecessary risk of catching the virus; and, 2. They don't realise the damage they've done to their own political careers by not showing solidarity with the general public.

He was at least at one of them, wasnt he? Also, as its his place of residence, whether he is there or not he is still 'hosting' it. He must have endorsed them surely? Somebody else organising 2 parties at once at the residence of our Prime Minister, at the eve/morning of Prince Phillip's funeral, during pandemic restrictions, without the knowledge of our Prime Minister would be taking the piss and totally unbelievable!

...and yet, we the public still turn out in our millions to vote for one or the other, although i grant you the turn out is slowly getting smaller each time.

we all hold differing opinions on this but i feel labour really lost itself once blair became leader and have struggled to be 'torybour' since with no real direction...anyone even slightly resembling the labour leaders of old are shot down in a media flame, all our politicians do now is make money for themselves and their relatives/rich school chums.

I'm not making the rules and telling everyone in the country to follow them nor am I setting an example or leading people.

I've no idea if I've broken any rules.

I've isolated, social distanced, washed my hands and worn a mask. I've not been to any parties or mixed with people outside of my family.

It may be that I've broken rules but I've tried to follow them through all the changes. I've been double jabbed and boosted as well as taking tests at home.

So far so good you'll be pleased to know.

I don't imagine that the information that most of them get is that much different to what is presented to the public. Those in the most important positions might get the more detailed interpretation from the scientists. I don't think those in No. 10 have any greater capacity to understand what they're told than the general public which, lets face it, isn't great. I really don't think there's any conspiracy of any kind. People in government don't want to have to follow the rules any more than anyone else wants to. They've chosen to ignore their own rules thinking they won't get caught out. And they have, the idiots.
