I had to take a LFT before I could attend my Son's graduation last year (delayed due to covid).
It was negative.
I had to email the result and a reference number to the specified address online.
They sent me an email and text confirming that I was negative. It also showed on my NHS App.
I could easily have simply got the details from the test kit, sent off my 'negative' result and not bothered actually testing.
How many people would have done the same, or said they were negative even if it was positive?
Waste of time.

LFTs are totally reliant on trust. You can easily take one and just scrape the roof of your mouth or around the edge of your nostril and record a negative.

I've got to take one tomorrow as I'm on a training course and the instructors son is in the vulnerable category - do I fake it, or do it properly? Personally, I'll be taking the test correctly, but I also have to hope that the other delgates respect the request of the trainer. Therein lies the issues behind it all - with conflicting stories from governments and scientists, there's plenty of folk out there who don't give a **** about those who are vulnerable and carry on blindly ignoring everyone but themselves. We really have become a bunch of selfish ****s

I’m pleased more and more are starting to reach similar conclusions.

It’s time to end this and let us all return to normality. By all means protect the vulnerable and attend to the sick, but let the other 99.9% of the population get on with our lives now.

Possibly for different reasons to you though Ubes.

How so?

Addendum: having thought about your comment (above) for another 5 minutes, and being slow of thought these days - some might say absent - it’s occurred to me that that’s exactly right. Of course, people have different reasons to wanting to get back to normal, be it political, social, economic or whatever. The point is that getting rid of all this ****e will help to deliver what each of us want. That’s a good thing, I fink.

Apparently, according to the Sunday Times today, only 14% of the LFTs taken have their results reported via ‘official’ channels. I did the first LFT I took, and just couldn’t see the point after that.

Isn't the point so that you get an email saying you tested negative which you use to gain entry etc?

You do realise that I wasn't suggesting that?

From your posts and links you give me the impression that there are issues of principle involved for you. For me it’s simply a matter of utility. The current version of the virus is so prevalent that the measures attempting to restrict transmission are pretty useless. It’s so transmissible that even a full lockdown would probably not make that much difference unless it was Chinese style house arrest. It’s almost unreasonable to expect any system to be able to manage this level of infection and run services normally. Sadly even dropping restrictions won’t actually help services return to normal, there will still be thousands of ‘extra’ admissions to hospital to deal with, scheduled operations will still be delayed. But it might get us over this wave more quickly. The testing/isolation policy is obviously unsustainable in the absence of tests, so no point pretending on that any more.

no need now if you have been vaccinated and have the pass on your phone, regardless of your testing status.

No I realise that. I was talking about the point of LF tests. Not everyone has the NHS App, which I highly recommend by the way.

Principles and utility for me, G. As you know, I’m an accountant by background, so always driven by the numbers. Nowt wrong with principles during this period either.

****ing hell, the boy, who has been in isolation since Monday last week, and first showed symptoms on Saturday 1 January, is STILL showing a positive (faint second line) on the LFT. He feels fine, though thinks his muscles are beginning to atrophy…..

Having read the guidance again it says if, after ten days, you feel ok and don’t have a temperature, you are fine to re- enter society…so that’s what he will be doing tomorrow, this is nuts. He’s been invited back to the family table for dinner tonight as well.

Incredible level of ongoing harassment from NHS Test and Trace and now Warwickshire County Council. I strongly recommend that anyone testing positive on an LFT does not take a PCR. Once you are in the system they are not letting up because they are obviously paid by contact.

Unless your a Serbian tennis player I take it ? Then you can make up any old ****, go and infect as many kids as you want tge day after you receive a positive PCR and go to another country with the strictest rules in the world and still claim your being harassed and tortured lol. One rule for 1 eh, Aussies gone right down in my estimation if they don't deport the self righteous prick

No vac should have been on the first plane home
It's got to the stage here that after two jabs I'm hoping the borders are opened just to let the bloody things in
What's the point of a nearly two years border closure and 93% vaccination rate if the disease isn't even widespread
I think we had 29 cases today
We will Never hear the ****ing end of it from the anti vaccers if the bloody thing dies out

He’s fine thanks mate, and has been for days. He’ll do the full ten days isolation, back to work on Wednesday, and unlike the thousands of people who didn’t take a PCR because they couldn’t get one or didn’t want to isolate, we will continue to be hassled by jobsworths, simply because we played by the rules but do not want to download the NHS Test and trace app.

The self test/test/isolate/trace system is broken and no one in authority will admit it. It didn’t work when we were getting 20k positive tests a day, it never had a hope with 150k. Isolating those who test positive in this country will make no difference to the spread of the virus, it’s way too late for that and there are many more people who haven’t been tested or tested themselves who are out there. If you are ill stay at home, if really ill contact the NHS.

Are you suggesting no one should play by the rules

At this moment I am just disgusted at everything.

The parties.
The flat refurbishment sleaze
The continuing lying that is happening.
The Novak Djokovic situation.
The 150,000 cases a day and still well over a 100 deaths a day...and yes that is worse than seasonal flu.
The broken trace and track situation
The destruction that is happening to the NHS.
The cost of living rises that are going to hit all families hard.

It is just so depressing and soul destroying.

Look after you and your own if you can.

Victoria & New South Wales in particular ( Australia ), have had a shocking time with co-vid / lockdowns etc for the past 18 months.
Unfortunately, worldly sports people, movie stars and alike, think they can just waltz in whenever they feel like, thinking they can be exempt from abiding to rules and regulations, that we the commoners have to follow.

The federal govt endeavour to keep some of these untouchables out ( state govts don't cause they want their events to take place ) .....but the bleeding hearts society scream rant & rave and go on social media to buy votes and opinion.

Novaxx decided he did not want to get jab and thats fine but do not expect countries to allow them in by breaking the rules. Many businesses have gone bust, many families have suffered but this god almighty wants to shove his finger up at us, whilst taking tax payers & corporate dollars from the very people who he refuses to abide with. As far as l'm concerned, he is an ass with no care for anyone but himself.

Its not us Aussies who have deceived, its the woke judicial system and the individual judge who is at fault.
There are two sets of rules, there always has been.
Just my two bobs worth.
