I was quite enjoying it till that clusterfuck on Saturday even going as far as to say I was hopeful for the rest of the season,the wind was well and truly taken out of my sails.
Trippier was a bit of hope, but it had taken so long I was sinking back into the feeling I had with whole Bruce/Emery/Howe debacle. And here we are. Monday 10th, not even an inkling of a new signing, just a number of random Twitter rumours.
Downie, Caulkin, Kennedy - none of them are saying anything particularly positive, they're just as vague as the efforts of the new owners. A lot of it is too familiar for my liking;
- Signing a player we didn't need, because - pound for pound - seemed good value for money.
- No understanding at any level of what is required.
- No prioritisation of the vital positions (CM first, then CB and CF)
- Seemingly nothing happening from anyone involved in transfers or scouting (Nickson, Hammond)
- Weird things happening linked to the club (Ashley suing Staveley)
- None of our **** players leaving
It's got that "sleepwalking to relegation" feel about it we've been through twice before and, let's face it, everything is against us. The stars have clearly aligned to give the football world a big laugh at our expense - as usual.
