Yep, tried everything. Even pressing the off button won't work, as you can't shut down with a program still running.

Done that, it comes up with a screen saying "Can't shut down as programs are still running. Click here to force shut down by closing programs." But if I click it, it just does nothing and continues to freeze up (but with Pink Floyd still playing...)

thought if you held it down long enough it shut off automatically

Yep, tried everything. Even pressing the off button won't work, as you can't shut down with a program still running.

Ctrl+alt+delete, task manager, processes tab, find the relevant process, right click, end task.

Just un-plug it and take the battery off.
