was there not a statement from the club or a quote from one of the Allams that the deal was close to being sealed (inferring that it wasn't done)

Pah, first time we visited Turkey it was two and a half million Lira to the Pound! :emoticon-0100-smile

I remember it being like that 20 years ago. I would've been about 8, and shopkeepers would sometimes give me a little sweet in lieu of change for whatever my parents were buying, because there didn't exist a small enough denomination of currency to give as change. Bizarre system that was.

Indeed, I have a 500,000 Lira note, as it's now 22 to the Pound it's yours for a bargain price of £1000. :emoticon-0100-smile
