mate that was just someones opinion of the stewards ruling, must be a person aggrieved by the decision who said it not the governing body

No mate, it is in the fia statement, will dig it out

never heard that Statement mate, but i only watched the race part not all the turmoil later the FIA have the power to overturn rulings by race directors if needed strange they didn't do it if not in agreement

Absolute farce of a race, the best driver on the day lost, ridiculous
Makes the sport look really badly run
The race controller knew Max would win as he was on fresher tyres
Horner had said to him,'we only need one lap'
It looks really bad, either corruption or bias

bit strong on corruption mate if the pit crew did a tyre stop like like Lewis asked for he would have won easy, pit crews fault not taking into account a safety car

Still can't get my head round what happened today, but makes next year an interesting one.

Can't wait to see the new car designs and if the rule changes help with following and overtaking

The two statements below sum up today for me. I bow to your superior knowledge of the rules MR but I agree with the following.

Would this have happened when Max Mosley was chief of the FIA, Bernie Ecclestone was the head of FOM, and Charlie Whiting was race director? I think not. There would’ve been clear rules & leadership, and the title would’ve been decided on the track. A sad episode all round.

This whole sorry saga is not Verstappen or Hamilton’s fault. It’s the fault of an inept FIA & a useless race director in Michael Masi.

For me a great season of f1 has been defined by a rd decision that has given a major championship to a driver that didn't deserve it. I'll say again I'm not a Hamilton fan but he did not deserve to be 2nd in a race that he dominated for 57 laps before 1 persons judgement handed the title to verstappen

yet no one has mention what happened on the first corner, and Red BULL took the decision on the chin, Verstappen was first in the corner and kept between the white lines , Lewis tried to pass him on the outside but ran out of room, bearing in mind Verstappen had the racing line and was ahead, Lewis went off the track cut the corner and averaged just under 2 second lead which took him out of DRS range of Max, Lewis had the more powerful car was then able to pull away yet if the stewards had gave Lewis an advantage as DRS which the following car gets every lap MAX would have been able to keep up, but RED BULL accepted the decision like gentlemen, Most Lewis fans are very upset by the race but are looking with bias on the side of Lewis, i Learnt years ago not to get angry with f1, and yes im guilty of the same thing regarding Sunderland which is when the passion comes out, that ref sarrada was a ****, and nearly did us, but i cannot look objectively at it as the lads are part of my life.

sorry mate i think your missing a big point he was only 11 seconds ahead due to not stopping on team orders he even questioned the not stopping i heard him he was told by his team it was to maintain the advantage, but his tyres were ****ed he would have won if a safety car had not come out due to a crash, but it did and he didn't have that lead any more.
Problem was that Verstappen had all the power due to being behind. Had Hamilton gone into the pits ahead of him Verstappen would have stayed out. As it was verstappen watched Hamilton go past the pit lane so could do the opposite. A full lap later that wasn’t an option cos Verstappen used the virtual safety car and then the actual safety car to twice take the advantage. Drivers pitting under the Vsc and SC don’t lose as much time in the pits and can catch up more easily when they come out (with the SC).
The race was stolen and the result should be overturned on appeal in my opinion.
I would also argue that the incident at the beginning was down to Verstappen going so deep into the corner that Hamilton had nowhere to go but off the track or collide with Verstappen. He chose to race on rather than take them both out and concede the title early on in the race.
The stewards bottled that decision cos rather than penalising Hamilton they needed to penalise Verstappen for driving like a ****house. I honestly don’t know where Hamilton was supposed to drive cos he literally could not remain on the track into that corner. The stewards not making him give the place back showed that they knew that.
Also the argument of “let them race” is also flawed. They raced for 55 laps or so and Verstappen couldn’t get near. That race was run already and the decision at the end is a massive load of bollocks. The FIA are missing a letter cos they are as corrupt as the other governing body that we all love, the one that decided to award a sandbar in the Middle East a World Cup due to them giving the bigger bribes.

I'm not a F1 fan but did watch it.....good to see that its not only football (with FIFA) that suffers from corruption.... The FIA has just proved what a farcical and corrupt so called sport this is. I'm not a great fan of either Hamilton or Verstappen but to watch a race where someone leads for 56 of 58 laps and has a 13 second advantage........in a sport where thousandths of seconds matter....and should have had up to 3 or 4 cars in front of him...suddenly finds himself level with one lap to go.....The powers that be in the FIA clearly saw an opportunity to take the title away from Hamilton and took it....as I say, Farcical and corrupt. Last time I will watch that.

Suppose it was a two legged football match, away goals count double. It is the 2nd leg the home side is 1-0 up at home and overall. First game was 0-0 away.

With a minute of extra time to go. The referee awards a penalty for hand ball, it was a dubious hand ball. VAR shows even if was a hand ball it was outside the penalty area. The referee disagrees awards a penalty, they score, ref then blows his whistle, away team win 1-2.

Sort of what happened yesterday at F1!
