The truth hurts and I see what your saying. I have seen marginal improvements but not the sweeping ones others seem to have seen. I guarantee you that fist pumps Ritchie and Fraser all start against Burnley. Lewis has a very good game imho. Fernandez was our best player. I know Howe can’t predict the future but he should have picked Fern over Clark anyways. Clark has been poor all season. On the match day thread some where saying he would cost us a goal. He nearly cost us the game.
He just needs to get his arse on this forum. Would make his life a lot easier. Schar made a mistake, but the difference is he offers a threat from deep so should be played, and if he was there regularly Fede and Dubs would cover for a cock up. Clark is just terrible. Lewis was like watching a left back play. Why has he been kept on the bench for a non-left back the entire season? ****ing astonishing. Newcastle United best XI: Dubs, Manq, Schar, Fede, Lewis. Shelvey, Willock, Almiron. Joe, ASM, Wilson. Shelvey stays deeper, Willock and Almiron right and left of the midfield three, Joe right, ASM left of Wilson. Fraser/Murphy are options for wide, Longstaff your best midfield sub. Get the four useless lumps sold and replaced with better 1st Jan.
I have a different view. I saw us dominate vs Brentford and a much improved side, but because of Darlow being **** we didn't get the win. Arsenal was just Arsenal away and we should've had 2 pens and got something despite being up against a much better side. Last night I saw 10 minutes where I thought it's going to be a case of whether they score and felt confident, but then it happened. The pace and running of willock eliminated the extra space vastly and nufc were still in the game and nearly won. Once you're down to 10 we still looked better than the 11 Bruce has away at wolves. I think we're going to be ok.. Individual errors are costing us
The selection of both Clark and Darlow are Howe’s mistakes. Bringing on Hayden was misjudged, cost us the Norwich game as much as Clark did. Howe clearly not to blame for individual stupidity but this entire forum has said they shouldn’t be on a football field. I think Burnley will get something as well. As I’ve said our unique position may yet see us get out of it, but the new era hasn’t been brilliant in its infancy.
Yes I felt putting darlow in was a mistake and said so pre match Brentford, but having said that even he isn't usually that useless. Clark has been a solid player for us but you can't plan for player making that kind of decision. The side put out would've destroyed that Norwich 11 imo and its a shame.. All is not lost. I do have a worry that lacelles will walk straight back in the back 4? It's clear schar and feddy are way better...
There really was something wrong when Schar and Lewis couldn't get on the pitch with Bruce, all about him,the ****.
I agree. I don't understand the cribbing of Willock last night. I thought it was one of the best midfield tactical displays given by a midfielder for us in ages. His energy levels and effort were excellent - he basically covered off two oppo players by just being smart where he positioned himself. Due to the protection he gave and running he did, we actually weren't all that troubled last night. Got a bit stretched at the end but **** me after **** for brains decision on 10mins, I think we can forgive that.
Darlow lacelles ritchie and Hayden need to be dropped.. They're seen in at least 3 cases to be 1st team players and #what you need. What we really need is to move on from the cloggers that have got us in this mess in the 1st place. I wouldn't care our best 11 available is actually a decent looking side... We got 10 minutes of it yesterday then Clark spazzed it
The clue was what unfolded the minute he was replaced. Until that moment it was 50/50, but as soon as he was gone Norwich were all of a sudden getting extra space and time. Honestly with 11 nufc would've pissed that game
Yeah and that's nothing against Hayden who tried hard. But the space opened up as you say because he wasn't as smart tactically and positionally. I was worried the moment he departed because I thought he had such a massive impact on the game. I'd have actually removed ASM a lot earlier for Almiron. But I can understand I don't have the fitness data they do on Willock so maybe they had to protect him.
I think Howe tried to shot the door and of course Hayden seen as a dm... And Almiron is fast and grafts, but unfortunately the changes really didn't work.
Difficult balance as always. When you are in that situ you want to change nothing. But as a manager I suppose he sees people gassing, has his coaches telling him they're in the red zone and he has another big game Saturday. Life of a manager.
He must've realised he made a mistake with Darlow and Clark but has he realised lacelles Hayden and Ritchie would be another mistake?
That's the thing. I will be amazed if Lascelles doesn't come back in, which will mean he has got every selection wrong so far, and it is costing us vital points.
I think he'll give Lewis a chance now. Hayden I don't think is his cup of tea by looks of it, it was telling he went the way he did. Lascelles is the one that concerns me because he was instantly picked, and even looking back at the previous games under the last manager, any game this season or last he would see that Lascelles has regressed a fair way. It used to be he took 6 games to get up to speed. Now his permanent level appears to be that of the guy who is trying to get up to speed. Him and Clark are done in my eyes. Its not a form thing, their level has dropped. The way Clark has regressed is worrying. Single worst player this season and lets be honest, that does actually take some doing with Lascelles and Darlow in there.
He keeps picking the wrong team, it has to be said. Willock and Shelvey away has to stop. Lascelles ahead of Fede is lifting. It's costing us points.
The problem is he sees them in training. **** players against **** players so it appears they are better. Fact is Howe will learn fast that this weird obsession with 4-4-2 doesn’t work in modern day football. Shelvey may have played ok lately but today is the perfect example of why football has moved on. Maddison absolutely bossed him. Made him look like a **** player. Our players are **** but they are the same players that Bruce got us to 12th last season. Howe is in danger of losing all the goodwill.
Add to that picking Darlow in the first game, bringing Clark and Krafth in. We haven't got time for him to be learning on the job. I want him to do well and don't want him out or anything, but it's hardly been a good start. The players are ****e, but his selections are also costing us.
