Without going too much in to politics there was a good article about Dr Susan Michie, a member of SAGE and a big promoter of the need for lockdowns. She is a lifelong member of the Communist Party and sees lockdowns as a way of destroying the economy and replacing our system with a Marxist one. She is a big admirer of China. She is not a virologist or epidemiologist but specialises in behavioural science, specialising in getting people to make different choices. Why she is a member of SAGE is a mystery.The BBC which regularly gives her air time makes no mention of these things.

Two vaccines competing for viral dominance and both of them cannot win. Delta is spreading fast, but due to the vaccine program in the UK, the NHS can cope. Omicron is a bit of an unknown, but its spread will either be limited by the Delta variant or it will dominate Delta and become the main virus. If Delta wins, the NHS can cope, if Omicron dominates, its affect is thought to be milder and so Delta will die off and we will have a softer virus. Either way the NHS will cope. If Omicron is worse, who knows what will happen, Delta was worse than the first two, so...
Masks and social distancing - Yes.
Lockdown - No
The anti vaxers can get to **** in my personal opinion, but it is healthy to debate, these things, just at times admit that you actually know **** all and concede every now and again. Did I say anti vaxers can get to ****, what I meant to say was "ANTI VAXERS CAN GET TO ****!"

Let's have a cup half full moment....there's plenty say Omicron varaint could be a blessing in disquise and the moment some of us are waiting for, all of the people speaking out from South Afica bar none are saying Omicron is much milder.

Because you can still get it if vaccinated? And pass it on? You will not in most cases be as seriously affected if vaccinated. Haven't you being reading about vaccinations?
One reason given why it is not having too much of an effect in South Africa is that the population is younger than in European countries and things may alter in countries with an older population. There again, they may not. TWT.

How long do you think they should be under house arrest, sorry shielded, for? If people would just follow basic precautions, hand washing, sanitising etc it would save a lot of problems. But as anyone going onto a supermarket or pub and watching people breezing by the sanitisers or not washing their hands after using the toilets knows too many people just can't be bothered.
Under normal circumstances people who are immuno-supressed will have some kind of shielding. I’d like to think most wouldn’t visit the pub loos straight after a round if chemo.
I wouldn’t fancy mingling in the current climate if my immune system
had been knocked out. I’m upmost careful anyway & are openly rude to people who get too close even if they have a mask on.
To answer your question, maybe until natural selection is winning.
