Simetimes you have to stick with what you've got, accept your fate and go again. Not sure anyone will improve their position. Its not like their going to splash 30, 40, 50M in January.
Noticed that Newcastle are now the only PL team without a win. The difference between them and Norwich is they WILL be splashing 20, 40, 50M in January.
saw comments on here about colin but my thought process didn't get as far as him having left borough.
Morison must be given until the end of the season, still a lot to be done but I have full confidence with him.
What’s the downside? He’s on the payroll. He knows the players, especially the youngsters and wants to play football. Incentivise him by reviewing it in the summer if he keeps us up and not as they stupidly did with dinosaur MM give him a long contract if he gets a few wins on the spin. The downside is whether he has the knowledge, connections to get in the players needed in January, and can convince Tan he can.
He would be a good appointment (doubt we can get him) - has played decent stuff at both Brentford and Villa.
It all comes down to someone getting enough points to get us safe. No guarantees anywhere. Given the rebuilding that will need to be done in the summer with no funds, Im leaning more and more towards Morison and promoting 23s. Given the contracts being run down and the club statements around lack of funds I'm not sure we're a very attractive prospect for an experienced manager anyway. If we're going for inexperience why look any further than a management team we've seen deliver anyway, albeit not at 1st team level.
Whatever happens, Morisson had done the board a great favour in showing that the players that we have on board have more tricks up their sleeves than they've down previously. The standard on football has improved and any incoming manager will now look at us and see potential. Morisson has put his stamp on the squad and they've responded favourably. If I was Memhet, Choo or VT then I'd not rush into an appointment. When players are opening saying how much they're enjoying playing for Steve then notice must be taken. Hopefully sense will prevail.
Seems like a straight choice between an experienced manager who's prepared to come here to take it on with no funds made available, and a candidate who's currently a coach at another club but wants the initial step up to management. The first option would point to another stopgap appoinment like Warnock/Hughton who are out of work and looking for a job (pension?). I can't see anyone like Farke, Steve Bruce, Dean Smith or Wilder (who's now gone to Boro) being remotely interested in rescueing a Championship club under such circumstances. The sensible risk, and it is a risk, must be to go with someone who's fairly young and ambitious and wants the chance to change things on the pitch for the better. If that's the case, why go outside the club? It's a no brainer to give Steve Morison a shot at it if only for a limited period. Expecting him to turn around Jurassic Park in 3 games was a joke - he knows what he's got and should be given more time.
Got to agree. Contacts and ability to bring in the couple of experienced players we'll need in January are the only possible downsides and doubts right now. If we could get some kind of DOF in place too to help with that side then we could just be looking at a bit of a rosier future.
So Villa sell Grealish against the managers wishes, Grealish who was what Villa was built around....they struggle....he gets the bullet! No wonder Masky is bewildered by the game, and will now not go into management! Warnock still in talks apparently!
In fairness Smith WAS allowed to spend pretty much all the Grealish money and they've gone backwards since. However, I reckon this is yet another club forgetting where they've come from and how well the manager has done for them since he's been there.
I think you're right Brizz. Buendia, Bailey and Ings set them back about £90M to make a hole in the Grealish money. The worrying thing for them is that should they go down, that's 3 contract wages they'd have to find instead of just the one. I've also read somewhere a few weeks back that there's big pressure on the club because they face an FFP lashing from the EFL if they go back down.
