Today will be the most revealing aspect of Steve Bruce. If he has a soul - which I doubt - he'll talk of some kind of moving on, that he's happy to keep steering the ship until suitable replacements are found, that he's delighted the club has a new found impetus, etc.

If he does what Roy suggests, then he's every bit the thundercunt many of us thought he was, not the "nice bloke" so many of his media chums portray and should be put down. It's a big play this, because if the new owners allow him to be all bluster and bravado in front of the cameras this lunchtime, with headlines like "defiant Bruce wants a chance", they're put themselves in a bit of a weird position. For many, a poor lunchtime presser will come across as "well, what's changed apart from the name above the door?"

I understand this smacks of impatience, but it was an easy win for the new owners regardless of stability, nice-ness, etc.
I want to watch the presser. Is it on sky news do you know?

Where I’m confused is there was no sentiment for Bruce staying a week ago. Universally despised. Why, when we have new owners, do we still have him?

Its a very weird situation. Sometimes I think I get it; other times I just don’t. The lack of communication is a bit bewildering, I thought they understood what we had been through?

All I can assume is that they want a proper handover from Bruce and what to know all his inside knowledge about the team (although that would take all of 10 minutes).

Last Thursday I never remotely envisaged he'd be in charge for the Spurs game.

I think there's a few reasons including the way it looks. If you're trying to persuade a top manager to come to nufc right now that's not easy and if you're seen to be ruthless with the current manager it won't make it any easier.

This makes them look nice and it'll make getting a better manager easier..

They obviously haven't got the right one yet and don't want to settle for less

Bruce certainly knows how to kill the mood for Sunday.
It's a bit like checking in to a five star hotel only to find a massive turd in the toilet stinking the place out.
Not the end of the world but still takes the gloss off it somewhat.

You never know, he might be offering his resignation with immediate effect in his presser!
Unlikely but I live in hope!

It feels like that moment, but you don't panic, instead you pause, locate the flusher, but then you find the flusher doesn't work, reception aren't answering the phone and the answer machine is asking you to stay on the line and be patient.

Yeah, I empathise with the timing. If the PL hadn't been such ****s, this would have happened 1st July and Rafa or Jose would have been in charge on the 2nd. Conte's probably a bad fit right now, but I don't quite understand why we haven't at least appointed a Chief Exec? I mean, in any business that would happen relatively quickly, even if you said Jamie Reuben was interim CEO or something? Instead it's more akin to the Venky's, a bit of "ooh, wow, we own a football club - what do I do with it?"

I suspect it's a hard sell regardless of the money. They're after high end and the club and facilities are currently poor along with the clubs position.

The sooner they get a few wins it'll be easier.

That's the issue - wins ain't coming with Bruce. This is why I thought Jardim would be a good shout. Solid pedigree, and on a short term deal at Al Hilal so you'd imagine readily available and an easy 'sell' to the Saudi's.

Same with Favre. This is why it was such a pity it was left too late for Rafa or Jose. We could've had a world renowned manager shaping our future. Imagine how Sunday would look if Jose was the one taking his seat in the dugout, talking today in a presser about SBR and following such a great man. Sigh.

We'll see what happens, but i imagine come 2pm I'm on here ranting about what a selfish, feckless turd Bruce is, protecting his neck, spouting ****. I dunno, I just have an odd feeling that the consortium have missed a free hit here. Manager bounce, Spurs in all kinds of bother, not playing well, wave of optimism carries a victory, onward and upwards. Instead they're letting Bruce stay - a man with no support, no clue, who will almost certainly **** it all up on Sunday.

Agreed. Additionally it would be harsh sacking him on 999 games. But he should be kept on merit.

I have a belief that we're going to see a massive improvement on Sunday because the players will suddenly be motivated and feel part of something

Meanwhile the turd comes to life and starts climbing out of the toilet.

You the. Panic and open the drawer next to the bed to get the bible out and bash the turd senseless.

That my friends is why they call them
“Bible bashers”

The DoF role is the important one for me and that hire dictates the direction we are heading.
