Could resistance to this be similar to the reasons that people don't like Lee Johnson's terminology in interviews? Distrust of the unfamiliar.

It's been well documented that there's been an attitude problem within the club for years.

There's been cliques who have a drinking culture that undermines the team spirit.

There's been allegations that young players have been intimidated by senior players.

Seriously, can't people just accept that things have to change, we can't just keep repeating the mistakes of the past.

The same people who are complaining that things haven't changed are complaining about changes.

I think that bashing the club has become like a drug habit for some people ...

... I wish there was another local club they could go whinge about.

Meaning you're wrong. I've been in a number of management teams in both domestic and international companies within FMCG and Pharmaceutical sectors. Including being on call 24/7.

This isn't an interview mate, I have no interest in your CV.

If you really HAVE been part of management teams/committees then I'd expect you to understand the benefits of them

    I understand alright.

I also understand that the easiest way to fudge responsibility for something is to form a committee - it has almost been a byword for management failure in Britain for years.

How is it a committee ffs, surely you understand the meaning of the word.

These roles are independent with clear responsibilities ...

... unless you think Evans will have to gather the other players to speak to the referee.

Very early in my career it was once commented to me that "a junta will rip itself apart in a matter of weeks through infighting until a dictator appears who will last for decades"

Saying that I am happy with Evans as team captain with McGeady as his number two and am pleased O9 has a role as Club Captain behind the scenes. The other senior pros should be giving their input anyway without the need for a title to be attached. Just my opinion of course.

They make sure everyone pays their subs, arrange day trips and pay for parties. They also organise the turn for a Sunday afternoon and if any raffles need sorting.

    Good post mate.

I'm sure all of the team will be able, and encouraged, to give their input, captain or not.

In some ways I think this is a great idea because if someone finds Evans difficult to talk to he can easily go to McGeady or O'Nien.

If it's a problem with a club obligation, like an interview or hospital visit, he can go to the club captain without overloading Evans who probably wouldn't have a clue anyway. O'Nien has been there long enough to know the crack whereas Evans would have to go to the club to ask which complicates things.

Don't City also have something like 7 assistant managers under Pep?

Their multiple captain strategy is to ensure that within their squad rotation system that there is always an experienced Captain and Vice Captain available. Do we have a squad as big as theirs that makes this necessary?

More to the point, their captaincy team are always players who have served at the club successfully for a couple of years.

LJ has been under tutelage at City and spoken well of their set-up and that is where he has got the idea from, but he obviously forgot the difference in squad size and quality between us and them.

Seriously? You think LJ hasn't noticed the difference in size and quality of our squad and Man City's? :D

I know what you are trying to say. But LJ hasn't made this decision on a whim. And he's got people around him to sound these ideas off. Its his full time job.

He's put way more thought into it than any of us posting on an Internet forum. And he certainly hasn't just done it to copy City and forgotten our squad is different in make up to theirs :D. To suggest you have worked out why he has done it, but are capable of greater thinking and understanding than him as to why his decision is a mistake, is a bit much :D

I'm sure this has went on for years, it just has a name now. Captain probably picked a defender to keep an eye on defenders, midfield the same, and every other aspect of the team. They then report to the captain anything that needs reporting then he has a sit down with the manager. It's all about delegation. imo as always.
