Agreed. From what I’ve seen posted elsewhere by others they dislike him because he told them a few home truths too in which case he should be lauded.Wonder why that’s suddenly a problem for fans. When the players disliked di Canio, it was the players’ fault. Now they (apparently) dislike Johnson, it seems to be Johnson’s fault! (In the circles I’ve been reading anyhow)
Really? You've never mentioned it before........Whatever Speakman says, I still think it’s pathetic not having a single first team full back on our books with 5 days until the season starts.
And I will again. 4 days until we start our season. Winchester and Neil set to start in defenceReally? You've never mentioned it before........
Not good enough.ffs i give up... even someone (guess where) claiming KLD is 'out of his depth'.
the first bloke in a long time who is not trying to throw money at the club in a desperate attempt to get somewhere (we have ALL seen how that worked in the past)
data driven recruitment policy, ok, not the first to try that route but the first to actually head hunt people specifically for the group (short basically believed whatever people told him and paid them good money)
he is possibly the first one not to try and make any bold claims, 'this will take time' has been a common theme.
he claims he is too young, the lad has been brought up around football as a business, he was 'blooded' in business with his family ties within football, he has known little else.
People still just overlooking a great pre season when we deservedly beat a team a league up and destroyed a competitive team from the league below.
There’s no team in this league with a 30 man, balanced first team squad. Not one.
We have to forget we are Sunderland and remember we are League One.
I’m serene for Saturday arms have faith we will have players in by the end of the window, which is 4.5 weeks away.
Are folk suggesting we haven’t a team for Saturday? Cos we ****ing have. One of the strongest in the league even as it stands, with 30k plus behind us.
We all want signings, let’s not start tearing down the new regime for trying to do things right.
Teams signing players we didn’t ****ing want and folk screaming ‘look what they did!’. Have a word man.
I remember the good old days of the 70s and 80s when we could bring a player in early Friday and he was playing the Saturday with no team bonding or training. I’ll say it again good players can fit into any team straight away.
You'd assume the only reason we'd "lose out" would be a) location (Doncaster would mean he could stay where he lives now, let's not forget he's only 18) and/or b) he's guaranteed playing time at the other clubs. If Stewart is our main man this season, then Jebbison will start on the benchIf (and it’s a big if) this is true and we lose out to either of those clubs…that’s when I’ll start to worry.
As it stands I think we have a squad that can challenge if they all stay fit, however that’s unlikely and will only take 1 or 2 injuries for it to all fall to pieces.
ffs i give up... even someone (guess where) claiming KLD is 'out of his depth'.

YesSome ppl should be denied 'freedom of speech' to be totally frank!!
Do you? What makes you say that?I do think however they may have been taken by surprise at how difficult this would be in the short term.
Just a thought, we have all heard LJ moaning at length how he has no time between matches to do any training work with his players.
In his interview with the Echo Speakman agrees with this because he says; "You want to try and change the style of play to something that people want to come and watch, and I think you can tangibly see we're working towards that as we change the personnel, the head coach gets time to work with the players etc.
I was on the record last season saying that it can be difficult to achieve that when you have those performance markers every Saturday and Tuesday, with next to no training time in between."
So if we bring players in after the start of the season LJ is going to have no time to work with them.
It's all well and good saying we are looking for players who play the way we want and will slot right in to the team.
Yet we all know it doesn’t work like that. Players have to get to know each other, get used to each other's pace and work out how they play in different scenarios.
In other words, even players bought in pre-season take time to fit in and for the whole team to gel.
It might not be a disaster, but however Speakman wants to spin things it is still hugely disadvantageous for us to be approaching the season's kick off missing players in so many positions.
This can't be put down as anything other than a management failure - it's like starting the season with a voluntary points deduction.
Just don’t bother reading RTG mate, you’ll be a lot happier for it. Stick to this place and the more balanced opinions on here. Although views on here differ, in the main, people are expressing genuine thoughts (not looking for bites) and can appreciate the views of others, even when disagreeing.ffs i give up... even someone (guess where) claiming KLD is 'out of his depth'.

Fullback situation isn’t ideal, but it doesn’t mean suddenly the whole club is a shambles. Hopefully we get in some very good additions and we don’t suffer for the lateness of their arrivals, but if we do, I imagine it would be a lesson learnt and wouldn’t happen again.

It's a popular narrative that people are spouting. no idea why, it's as if some are desperate for the cub to be in chaos".... even players bought in pre-season take time to fit in and for the whole team to gel."
Yet a 17 year old looked, from day one, like he'd been in the side for years ...
... Evans looked quite at home when he played.
