Bloody hell Staines i am finding myself agreeing with you a lot of late. Cant you say something like you like the EU so i can disagree?
I’m only being honest Ellers and personally I won’t pander to any narrative that I’m told to believe in.
I like to hope I’m pretty balanced in my views…even as a Leftie
Maybe they'd work in the NHS, or care homes, or drive lorries, or pick fruit, or work in hospitality.
Maybe they would just stand on street corners, shoot up crack into their groins and spit at me when I try to help them…..
Think i would be too. Its the sorry state of the world in full. Cant knock people for wanting a better life whether it be here, there or anywhere. They dont really effect me up here in sunny yorkshire so at times im quite ignorant to the boat crossings.
Absolutely mate, and as I said, if it was me then I would most certainly be doing the same thing and wanting a better life.
However the question still remains as to why this country is so attractive to illegal immigrants over other ‘safe’ countries like France and Belgium ? Surely that must be down, at least partly, to the fact that they are looked after more and given more…….The sad fact of life is, we cannot cope with uncontrolled immigration. It leads to exploitation and works in the favour of the rich, as it brings an abundance of cheap and needy Labour….a mere commodity that can be exploited.

That’s the problem though mate…the Tories like to be jingoistic with their slogans…while Labour will just talk about the poor war torn refugees……none of them are completely right or wrong. The situation needs discussion from all sides in a civil manner that admits to there being a problem without the bullshit rhetoric.

pick them up in french waters then return them to france

Through my many visits to high end hotels where asylum seekers are housed, fed and looked after.
As I say, and I emphasis again, I in no way blame them in any way, shape or form......however it’s the system that needs looked at in my opinion.
So tell me Strolls, why do you think this country is seen as a good place to come over say, France or Belgium. Genuine question as you’re opinion is always noted.

You've alluded to one right there mate. It's just not true that more asylum seekers choose to come here over other European countries.

However, if people are willing to risk their lives crossing the channel then surely that would mean this country is an attractive prospect ? Or am I wrong in thinking that ?

If three and a half times as many choose France than the UK, it doesn't seem to me that coming here is seen as that attractive a prospect. The numbers risking their lives in the Channel are a tiny proportion of the total.
