I would say Toby and Jan were our best defensive pairing and they were committed to the club. I know toby wanted to move on but I don't suspect the reasons were because he didn't enjoy it at Spurs anymore and that it was simply time to experience something else before retirement.

Good luck to him. He's been great for the club.

The day he signed I heard it on the news and did not believe it , it came out of the blue , rushed home from work and turned on Ceefax and just stared at the TV with disbelief
I worked near the old training ground at the time and I sat out side one day waiting for his autograph looking for mercs or BMWs but he rolled up in an old VW beetle, still got the autograph somewhere , one of the few programmes that survived the clear out when I moved out

I'd spent the previous summer laughing as Germany got knocked out of the World Cup by Bulgaria, slagging him off for being a diving ****.
My dad said, "You wouldn't say that if he played for Spurs." Like that was ever going to happen...
