Me too mate, the doom and gloom from some supporters is becoming tedious, at the end of the day they are writing us off before the season has even started. Why has KLD spent so much attention to detail on his recruitment team if he's happy to sit in league one. The problem is so many people thought billionaire owner will just buy his way out of the league. When it comes down to it stability has to be key and patience
Did i say that??? Im talking about ambition, do you honestly think thats the way forward to get a club of our size back to where it belongs???
So you think having a huge long term plan is what we should do? Its not Rocket science. Peterborough spent big and took a risk, now look at them. Theres no money to be made down here, from the Championship and beyond is where all the revenue is made, so do you not think spending abit of cash and getting out of this league asap would be a sensible thing to do for our long term future? Im not talking huge sums because expensive players wont come to league 1, but a few players worth close to 1m would be nice and not just hunting the bargain basement and trying to pick up freebies!
It’s all a bit silly. We’re clearly trying to bring in the best quality we can without throwing silly money around. Taking care to bring in players who can develop and fit the system. And we are starting from a very low base. We’ll get players in by the end of August and I’m betting we will have the best squad in the division. If we have a slow start then some of the more negative ‘supporters’ will be able to enjoy their smug told you so routine. I expect us to be top six easily this season. Hopefully top one.
Think that's unfair tbh. Many didn't think we'd do a city or Chelsea but they did think we'd bring players in. Maybe spend a bit but nothing crazy. It's sustainable to invest in quality/potential and sell for profit later or even use them to get higher In pryamid! What we have currently isn't what anyone expected or wanted imo
Many of us font want to be smug as you call it. We just want a successful side Something which is unlikely at present. Lots need to change. We've s huge amount of work to have best squad in division. Top 6 should nit be the aim of safc in division 3. We should be finishing top. Zero excuses.
Do you not think bringing players in now that can play at a higher level if/when we get promoted would be a good idea instead of having another clear out and rebuild in the Championship. We need to bring players in now that can step up to that level and be stand out players in this league. Too many of our fans are starting to drop their expectation levels and having the mindset of us being a bang average league 1 club. You get what you pay for at the end of the day
The amount of football club owners on here is pathetic, the new regime is putting a sustainable plan for our future, we know we need players and so will they. I'm certain we'll get them in before the window closes and even if it takes to the last week we still have players in the team that can compete for a month
We really don't though We have ZERO full backs and a striker who whilst looking promising has not played a full season at this level and came injured. We need 2 full backs and a striker as a minimum before 7th. If we don't were lying along hoping square pegs will fit as normal. It's embarrassing a club of our side can't field a full 11 in their natural positions in division 3!
I'm sure the club also know that, Peterborough got promoted, so did Charlton 2 seasons before and look where they are. How do you know we don't have offers in for 1m+ players. I really believe we will get promoted this season and I believe that's the plan by the club. Who's hunting the bargain basement, they are free because they are out of contract not because they are ****. Let the club do their job and by all means criticise the the club when the transfer window ends if we have a **** squad.
As you say currently, the transfer window is still open , wait till it closes before we start criticising the club
Im sick of people saying how do i know this or how do i know that ffs. The season starts in 10 days, weve so far not spent a Bean, where are all these 1m offers then? Surely one would have signed by now! I dont give a toss about Charlton, they had financial difficulties as soon as they went up and lost key players like Aribo, and then Bowyer eventually left aswell.
If the players are good enough then yes. It doesn’t matter what league/club they come from if they’re better than what we’ve had.
How do you know they are better though? They are in a lesser league . Its a risk not worth taking for, we need quality NOW. Like ive already said you get what you pay for and we need proven players that we know can improve us now and in the future. You cant expect to get a whole load of freebies and unproven players to get us promoted. If we were building for the future then fair enough but we need out of this league NOW.
mate, we are all a bit worried at the signings and if honest, i think we all expected to see some money spent on transfers...right now we are a 3rd division club regardless of 'how big' we see ourselves, we are currently a rolls royce running on a moped engine, we cannot put a bigger engine in as we would struggle to pay the insurance, tax and keep the fuel topped up. a couple of blokes came in and actually tried to buy a way out of the league, the problem was, they expected it to be a one season stay and they were then going to milk the profits...that gamble failed and who is to say another such gamble will actually work or that we can actually afford it, we are possibly in a worse financial state than when we dropped into this league regardless of having a rich owner as the payments have stopped and money has been wasted along with the loss of revenue due to covid. unfortunately, the only way the club can move forward and hopefully keep the momentum going is by taking care at each step and 'growing' the club back...i am holding onto the belief that if/when the need to spend a few quid arrives then the club will do just that but right now if they can get some quality in at low cost then they have to do so, i may be a million miles off but i refuse to get stressed out any more over things i cannot control and in the end, we on here all want the best for this club and to see it out of this league and aiming for the premier.
If the player is good enough, does it matter in which league they currently play? Or are you being prejudiced against lower league players trying to make the step up because 'we're Sunderland' ?
