I don’t think it unreasonable to expect that the further you get down the list, the less the players fit the initial criteria. Whether that be data, experience, quality, age price etc
However we have been told the hold up is that we are waiting for better players, but that isn’t necessarily the case is it?
I also don’t think it unreasonable to judge the business we have done to date, there are no guarantees that we will sign “next level players”. Hopefully we do though

People will very quickly lose any faith they have if we start this season badly it will be a horrible place all over again

I’d never have thought that mind. I can’t think of many high earners we’d have left. AOB, Grigg and Wright? Other than that who? Would it not be more cost efficient to get promoted sooner rather than later?

Yes, but that will be up to the club to get the supporters to buy into the vision and the dream.

Example..were negotiating with Hume at the moment..his wages must fit the new budget..deadline has now been given to accept or move on.

seen a few posts banging on about promotion and how we 'need it' for the revenue...i am sure someone posted a while back that promotion will not bring a massive increase, whether that was just first year as the need to replace players will 'eat it up' or longer term i am not sure, but it does not seem the promised land many hope it will be.

anyone confirm this or tell me i got it all wrong?

I think LJ is massively pissed off..he wanted players in..I think he believes we're behind where he wanted to be as this stage in pre season. But, we don't know the conversations or promises the board told him when he joined.

10 days away and we still have no full backs (bar one that is imminent), our midfield is still weak and our strikers consist of an unproven Scottish forward who hasn’t scored in pre season and Grigg.

So so disappointing and underwhelming .

So we have a threadbare squad and the manager is pissed off, I hope things change for the better soon because this season is looking to be a disaster.

As we get closer to the transfer deadline..players and clubs will get nervous..I expect business will get done..but it will be late in the day..business will get done and we will be competitive.

Cheers for updates, I’m just really disappointed in how late it’s all been done, fingers crossed everything falls into place.

I understand what the ownership group are trying to do. If we get off to a poor start though, patience will be thin in the ground.

Really tough to hold our nerve now, as supporters.

I understand people being pissed off.

We've got to stick together though and get behind the club. Players, manager, staff and owners.

I agree with that. Unfortunately I also think we have an incredibly difficult start fixture wise.

The way we want to play, if it is to be effective, is dependent on players being brave and being confident. If the fans do start getting restless it could all become a bit of a perfect storm unfortunately.

I can already here the ****ing booing at the first home game.

Give them time man we’ve signed absolute ****e for years, wasted fortunes, ended up almost £200million in debt, almost went to the wall.

That lead us to being owned by a couple of cowboys and now everyone’s having a pop cos we aren’t repeating the mistakes and Ipswich have signed a couple of bang average players for far too high wages?

Na I’m not gonna panic. I see enough in the young lads to fill the gaps. I’d rather we did that than sign absolute dross to say ‘ooh we got cover’.

Yes, we are short. We are also in an absolutely dross league where it’s not that big a deal. It’s not like we are gonna be facing world class players.

I can see the owners rapidly thinking ‘what the **** have we done’ when we give away a throw in after 18 month locked out and the chorus of boos goes up.
