When Southgate 'does a Klopp' and goes to the home fans and punches the air it feels a bit forced........anyone else?

Disagree tbh. Even if you consider taking the knee to be support of a Marxist political movement - which is quite a leap and in a lot of cases probably just an excuse - surely you just don't applaud it or whatever, because if you are anti-racist, what sort of message do you think booing is sending?

While booing the national anthem is quite clearly meant to denigrate the opposition and by association Support England. I understand it, but as I said, it's not a good look.

I'm neither for nor against the taking the knee. I think some people are interpreting it in their own way and associating it with BLM and/or Marxism which even if you or I don't see it that way, it's not difficult to understand why some do.

I get the reason for booing the opposition during the match, to put them off or take away their confidence like happens at every penalty shootout in any game anywhere but I think booing the anthems shows a lack of respect to the other nations fans which is out of order. It's disrespectful and goes against the very idea of having an international competition where you respect your rivals and their traditional song before getting down to the business of cheering and jeering. It's like the players shaking hands before the game is a sign of respect before they get out there and let battle commence.

I think the key term is respect.

You may not agree, but how hard is it to be respectful of other peoples choices.

Things can get a bit heated at times, but it seems if you are on opposing sides you must automatically hate, deride or insult the other side.

Respect for other people's opinions, beliefs etc seems to be at an all time low.

I've never seen a tournament anywhere that england fans have not booed other anthems.

Unlike other sports a very particular right wing element exists in the engurlund fan base.

Only a daily mail "journalist" would write that.

Schmeichel is the only candidate surely? Maybe the swiss lad for the pens.

Every game no matter where it's been I've heard the same.

I've never heard english rugby fans at it.

    Obviously not cricket fans

I agree. I wonder how much the pandemic has played a part in it. People cooped up with just their thoughts and Twitter for company.

I read a worrying thing the other day where someone said that we are heading for a Mao style cultural revolution - getting rid of the Four Olds; old customs, old culture, old habits and old ideas. I don't think that's far off the mark.

What if he keeps a clean sheet in the final and ends the tournament on one goal conceded and the trophy - stumpy arms would have to be included!!

Hope Eriksen gets a place or the Danish team gets team of the tournament.

Maguire and Shaw would deserve being considered. As would Sterling.

I know - feel dirty saying it but you can’t deny they’ve all played well. Sterling even has a shout for player of the tournament ffs - I slated both him and Southgate to anyone who would listen pre tournament and in the group stages….now look….

Doesn't matter. He was shocking last night.

I'd agree shaw has got to be in that team.

After that its then debatable. Maguire meh. Theres plenty of big lumps who can head it in the tournament.

Bonucci, spinazzola, cheisa should be in there.
    Schmeichel would be imo.
Maehle at wing back for denmark was very good compared to walker even if he played left full lol.
Pedri, schick and a few others.

Sterling knocked in a couple but in general play would you put him in as lw?

Agree with most of those. I’m not a big Sterling fan at all but he’s terrified most defences when running with ball in this tournament.

And if cheisa fires in 2 and wins it for italy?

So far england have beaten germany. Deservedly. The rest is alright but nothing special. The big game is now coming. If england win it then they've taken out 2 big teams and imo the most dangerous side there is.

Italy have dispatched belgium like it was nothing but then had to fight like dogs to best spain. Kdb was brilliant earlier in tournament and spain were unreal in the sf. Their earlier games were no stronger opponents than england. Turkey, wales and swiss then Austria.

They took the group opponents apart.

I would say that sterling looks good and his best work was actually running behind without the ball and getting in the six yard for that final ball. His shooting has stink the place out.

I would nearly make an case kane has improved in the later games gaining either fitness or confidence and played better than sterling laterally.

I would argue saka is our best option. Couldnt believe that southgate took him off.

Have to agree on Sterling. I was very impressed with young Saka, (obviously not in contention for the tournament team), other than that I thought they were a bit robotic, stayed in position and did their jobs.
