I half slept, half tossed and turned on it.My opinion hasn't changed from last night(I still think Sterling was caught) but in some ways my views of Top level Football and today's overpaid players has and so has my opinion of Euro '2020'...

The game isn't the same anymore,it has,as some have said, become a very weak sport.A game has turned on a decision last-night that we as England fans are arguing over? That sets alarm bells ringing for me.Doubt has crept in that we have cheated the opposition, that we're not worthy of a place in the final?

For what it's worth I'll maintain that I believe Sterling was caught(light contact but contact nevertheless) but when I see pundits who want to see England win this tournament so badly ,question a decision that secured our passage to the final,it's as profound as it gets. Some tabloids(and don't get me wrong I'm limited to Scottish versions) suggest he dived to get us a penalty, some on here say it too.The tournament is tainted for me now,I'm questioning why I'm getting worked up about players who earn more in a week than I've took home in the last 10 years.

We had got on top and I just wish we'd scored from open play...My emotions would be so much different this morning.

My emotions are still euphoric and that hasn't happened with England for a long time, this team deserve to be in the Final.

I wouldn't drop Rice or Phillips, both have impressed enough to start in the Final.

We were the better team last night and deserved the win.

Sterling hasn't just been our best player, he's been the player of the tournament.

I feel blessed to have been at our only semi-final win in a major competition for 55 years and even more blessed to be going to the final.

    Bring it on.

Not often I agree with you but Sterling has been outstanding...he's unplayable at times.

I always find in times like this that opening the fridge door helps to soothe the furrowed brow - be it a cold beer or a chilled glass of white. Whatever the time of day.

Not enough Yorkshiremen in the squad?

Sterling has been our best player in this tournament IMHO and he won it for us last night. Forced the OG early on and won us a penalty.

I honestly don't give a monkeys if he dived or not. This is tournament football you have to do whatever you need to do to win. Players from every other team do it and so should we.

None of the people here in the office are English. Swedes, French, Spanish and a Dutch lad. Not one has commented on the so called dive. Everyone though has been talking about Sterling as being unplayable.

Incidentally I was laughed at before the tournament started when I said England could make the final. Our defence was **** and our keeper dodgy apparently! Well one goal conceded all the way to the final says something else :1980_boogie_down:

In Sterlings Interview, he said he put his leg out and touched my leg, not tripped or kicked , touched it.
its a shame but thats the way the game has been going for years, non contact sport. if it was against us we would be fuming , but you have to take it when it comes and enjoy it as i dont think its ever going to change now
we might have to lay off whingeing about the hand of god for a bit now though. <laugh>

Pickford seemed very nervous after a great tournament so far. His kicking was as bad as any I've seen. Hes still my choice for number 1, but he seriously needs to calm down

I fully expect Henderson to be our keeper at the world cup. I think by then he'll of made the position his own

I had to do a bit of research there. I thought you meant jordan Henderson at first. Brucie would have thought about, he didn't mind a few square pegs.

Ffs some of the stuff I’m reading..

Do I like dubious decisions, no I don’t.

Life is full of them especially in football..

I quote the following for England re decisions and fate..
    1986 Maradonna obviously..
1998 v Argentina Sol Campbell goal extra time plus Beckham stupidly getting sent off through gamesmanship.
2006 John Terry goal extra time plus Rooney stupidly getting sent off through gamesmanship ( remember Ronaldos wink)
2014 Lampards goal 2 feet over the line

To level up Hursts goal 1966

**** happens and more often than not against England..

    So 2 choices

Back this bright young team and Manager to the hilt

    Or support Italy

I’ve had 50 odd years of disappointment and right now I’ll take what fate gives me.

Understand where you are coming from Ric but I will turn the penalty decision on its head. For a start I don't think it was a free kick from which Denmark scored from. No one has mentioned that, the Tv pundits certainly didn't. Any contact like that on Sterling in the penalty box were a potential goal scoring chance is thwarted is going to attract shouts for a penalty. You win some and you lose some, like the one on Harry Kane. You see it in every game, every week at every level. As for the Scottish press taking the morale high ground, I'm old enough to remember Joe Jordan thumping the ball in the net v Wales ( with his fist, not his head) to put the Jocks into the World Cup Finals instead of Wales. Everyone in Scotland jumped for joy then. It's football. Like the media, they attract audiences and sell newspapers by being controversial. To me it's just football.
Listening right now to local BBC RH. Burnys is trying to talk up last nights game, as he should because it only happens every 55 years ! ( Like City winning a title) Over 20m watched it live, it headlined all night, it was a national event and is/was a massive, massive boost to the country. But, now on the local radio the 'I hate football me' types are out in force. they hog the phone lines with their twisted views, 'All millionaires, don't even live in this country, they don't represent me....' etc etc. Miserable bastards with nothing in their lives. To level the coverage up the BBC have to put out the 'No other derby like it, this divided city, your either black and white or red and white....' trailer for the rugby league every hour, as they did all afternoon yesterday.
Ric, you cannot please all the people all of the time. Just enjoy it pal.
    UTT.

I like listening to Dave Burns show when I drive to work from Sheffield but Jesus Christ you are spot on with some of the morons who come on. A guy the other day was adamant that the government was accepting 100k deaths a day instead of 100k infections.
