Just not the same. Can’t even go down the pub, and even if I could get in, sitting at a table 6’ away from anyone else is a load of ****e. Why does it all have to happen this year.
On the one hand I agree with you chazz.on the other, how many times have we been on the other side of diving, play acting and blatant cheating? Like it or not (and I don't) what was a borderline foul 15 years ago is a red card now, if you don't go down in the box when you feel contact then you're not doing your job. You can waste 2 minutes with a pretend injury and the ref will add 10 seconds on at best. If we'd have carried on taking the moral high ground we wouldn't be where we are now. Depends how much you see it as selling your soul? Another point is that Harry Kane got a stone wall penalty turned down for reasons I cannot begin to fathom, and the one on Henderson in extra time looked like a nailed on pen too, although I'm yet to see a replay of the latter. So did we get a very very soft penalty and got lucky? Or did we get two blatant penalties turned down and was unlucky? It's gotta be both hasnt it?
Firstly, congratulations to Gareth and the whole team, finally an England team that has finally found how to play Tournament football. Denmark was a very good side, and it was a tough game, but we were the better side over the full 120 minutes IMO. KS had an excellent game between the posts. I really don't get this negative comments about Sterling, he had a wonderful game and is a nightmare for defenders to play against. When running at pace, it doesn't take much to bring a player down. Sometimes you need to have things go your way, as Gary Linaker mentioned, after not having the rub of the green in the past on a few occasions, it's nice to have one or two decisions going in your favour for once. As far as the 2 penalty claims, one given one not. IMO, both Kane's and Sterlings were penalties, soft, yes, but as was seen with both, if the ref gave them VARS would not over turn them, but if not given then would stay with the ref decision. So like in Cricket it was umpire's call. We managed the game well, came back from a goal down and got the job done. We tried to win the game in extra time and in doing so got the decision in our favour for the penalty and credit to Sterling for creating that situation.
I have no idea why the Kane penalty wasn’t given, I was working & trying to watch at the same time, so no idea what the commentary was, but to me it looked a 100% penalty. The Sterling penalty that was given, looked like it initially, but the replay didn’t, so I have no idea. Having said that, there was a slight knock of knees, which may off balance a fast moving player, but to me, it was soft. I was annoyed we didn’t seem interested in a 3rd goal in the 2nd half of ET, Denmark seemed to have given up & weren’t even bothered about coming back to defend, yet we still passed it round in circles, before kicking it out for a throw.
It looked like a penalty in real time to me, then some boffin watched it 10 times in slow motion and decided the ref didnt make a mistake. But oh no, Sterling is a “****”. How dare he buy a big house, have a gun tattoo and be our best player.
So much justifying going on. will karma get us in the final? let’s hear no bleating about diving cheating Italians if it does. These players are entitled to go down if they feel the breath of another player near them.
If you’ve got a valid argument against my point I’m happy to hear it but don’t put **** like that it’s meaningless
The challenge on Kane earlier was a penalty poor error from the ref. So that’s your karma. The Italians are masters at cheating and play acting it’s in the DNA.
Let’s have it right... A brilliant move so clinical the defender had no option... Officials & VAR awarded Pen. So good so good so good... Allam’s OUT.
Having slept on it I think just the same as last night. We didn't play particularly well, we were better than Denmark overall, imo we got the rub of the green with the penalty. But we got the job done. We'll need to up our game on Sunday.
I thought we were the only team in it and kudos to the Denmark defence and goalie for dragging out the inevitable for so long. Wouldn’t have said we were poor.
No we were dominating it and the goal was coming. Still don’t understand the grealish thing. Bizarre.
Has to start Henderson for me on Sunday.... an old head needed and Italy have a few of them.... if there were nerves last night (players) what will they be like Sunday.... I do agree, bad decision from Southgate on the final,15 to not go and kill it off ... Denmark played the final 15 with 10....
