It'll be fun coming and reading all the last 16 reaction on here regardless of the result. I'll be in Wales so will likely have 30 odd pages to catch up by time I'm back a few days later
Just Monday to Friday next week mate. Think we play Mon evening if we're runners up and Tues if we win group. This isn't the Snowdon and then down west coast trip with my pal. Just a few days with my lad. Making up for no abroad by doing a few different short trips. Booked that showcave place you and Fosse mentioned that time. Gonna wait on weather before planning much else.
I just find the idea that if you're not just sat there blindly clapping and cheering along it means you're not supportive Bit ****ing weird to be absolutely honest. I genuinely don't get how we're supposed to sit there and watch that on Friday night and not question why we played for a nil nil draw with Scotland ffs!?!? On any planet, surely the best approach is beat Scotland and then you can play for your draw against the Czech's? The Czech's are far more dangerous opposition than Scotland. We could now just as easily **** up and lose that match.
I agree with you, we should have battered Scotland, especially going on our first 20 mins against Croatia. For some reason we didn't and I genuinely think they looked knackered and I don't know why, because we had a longer rest than Scotland. I seriously would have suggested they'd been out on the town the night before, they were so lethargic, but I know that's not a done thing these days....well I don't think so. I only get defensive of England, when I feel individual players should get credit, but that's more a subjective opinion. To say I was disappointed against Scotland would be an understatement, I really expected more. I can't comment on Southgates ability as a manager, because I genuinely don't know.
In fairness that works the other way too. If you're not slagging the manager off it doesn't mean you're blindly clapping along. All I've said is that one result doesn't mean a great deal in isolation and I'll judge him at the end of the tournament. And that I think he's done well enough so far to earn that. Let's hope we get a good win tomorrow to try and get some momentum going again. I'm hoping the players are raring to go to put the other night to bed.
Actually if I've got one criticism of Southgate, it's that coat or jacket, whatever the fook he was wearing. It made him look as though he was awaiting the arrival of St Trinians. The guys is on a world stage, well a European one at least, all he needed was to drag out the McClaren umbrella and it would have been game, set, match! So if he could stop dressing like a Hogwart Pikey, especially when the Italians are in town.
Of course it does. Not everything is black and white, and it wasn't aimed at you anyway. Me saying we played ****e doesn't mean I want the guy immediately sacked, it definitely needs to be based on the tournament as a whole. Unless we don't get out of the group or a hammered in the last 16, he needs to also take us to the World Cup as there's not enough time to bring someone else in to sort things out. Can't think of a managerial red adair off the top of my head.
If anyone thinks we are not good enough, they need to remember Terry Butchers broken head image it’s comin home
If anyone thinks our midfield isn’t good enough then they have forgotten about Bryan Robson’s dislocated shoulder heroics in the 80’s As for Pickford not being good enough…remember that save by Gordon Banks in 1970? I think we’ve got it what’s reqd tbh to go all the way
