This just confirms what I have been told about him.

    'Maverick' Maddison was a no-show
Turning up at full-time for a match you were expected to be in the squad for is bad enough but, when you are staying in the hotel 50 yards from the stadium, it is even worse.

That was the bizarre situation at Bolton for their last home match when Marcus Maddison was a no-show.

The former Peterborough and Hull winger, 27, signed on deadline day from Charlton in February, was nowhere to be seen at the 1.30pm meet ahead of the League Two clash with Barrow.

When he finally got there, he had some explaining to do, with sources claiming he had ‘slept in’.

Maddison, described as a ‘maverick’ by Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony, was sent off on his Bolton debut but had the red card rescinded.

Bolton boss Ian Evatt subsequently told the press the player had a ‘sickness bug’.

I have always been a believer of the expression, "actions speak louder than words".

He is going to be collecting glasses in his local pub if he is not careful. I would have crawled over broken glass to be a professional footballer but I wasn't good enough. Madison has a natural talent but it appears like he doesn't want to play.

This looks like being his last season in professional football. Even before he came to us nobody wanted him, Bowyer admits he ignored advice not to take him. His behaviour with us and now with Bolton confirms his toxicity. He'll be lucky to even get a non-league club to take him on.

Thick as two short ones as well, if he actually admitted he had overslept.

Pretending to be ill would not have been very honest, but it would have saved face and prevented this daft story from coming out.

He was constantly saying he was ill when he was with us. The players got sick and tired of it.

Bobby Moore, George Best Jimmy Greaves all managed to put some away and still turn out a good performance. There's something else, either mental health problems or too much waccy baccy.

    Or that, yes.
I meant the term generally as in he's a waster or arsehole, rather than meaning specifically that he drinks too much.
My old man used to use it as a general term of abuse (though not about me!), and I guess I picked up the habit.

Oh great. We get him back then.

That's the last thing we need when Adkins is just getting the dressing room buzzing again.
Pay MM to stay at home. Furlough him.

Football Clubs don't half spout some rubbish in press releases like this.
Just come out and say he's been a waste of space.

I think he has some personal issues, and I hope he works them out.

He has shown that there is a good footballer in there somewhere.

Unfortunately we’re his employer so it’s down to us to offer/give him that help. In the meantime pay him to stay away from the 1st team.

Rumour is he has suffered mental issues during lock down (which is probably not at all unusual). I don' even know if he is eligible to play for us, but if he is Nigel could possibly do a job on him - he's clearly not a bad player, and it seems there were major issues in the changing room in tha last few months of Bowyers reign, so while he may well bring some baggage, it sadly appears Bowyer didn't have much support from his team.
If Adkins thinks he can bring something, I'd put him back in the squad. If he's likely to cause disruption, keep him clear as we are finally looking like a team again. I believe being separated from his family was a problem, and unless they are in South London, that won't change just yet.
