Very unusual move. Can’t remember any other footballer with his undoubted talent, doing something like this.

However, these are very strange times we are living in. I suppose perspective has changed for many.

Sadly, my guess would be some chancer has persuaded Maddison to sink his money and his face into a dodgy venture that might work out, but might equally disappear overnight - along with his cash.

To be fair, there can be a lot of money to be made from gaming and it provides a much longer term chance of making a living than football does.

If he has the talent to make gaming a success and it makes him and his family happy, then good luck to him.

He was a gamble for us which on the face of it didn’t pay off, but we haven’t lost much and now with Thomas we don’t need him.

It may even be that his goal and the point it gave us against Plymouth, might be the difference between play offs or not, so he could still be seen as important in the longer term.
