Rest In Peace Prince Philip,God Bless Her Majesty the Queen.
I also met Prince Philip in 1977 during the Queens Jubilee tour of the U.K when they visited the housing estate I live in up here..I was a 16 year old lad at the time,he asked myself and 2 of my mates about work prospects, wished us well and shook our hands...Sad day for many and I feel much sorrow for the Queen.I met him once a few years ago. He lived up to his public persona - gruff and grumpy with a smile and a twinkle in his eye that dared you to say something interesting to relieve the tedium. I liked him. My Dad met him not long after the coronation when he did his National Service and said he complained about the corgis and told a lot of off-colour jokes, like a typical navy man.
I feel very sorry for the Queen now, as she doesn't have anyone that can treat her like an equal human being like her parents, sister and husband could. After so many years of seemingly happy marriage she must be bereft.
RIP
I think I'd have quite liked him had I known him.
Wonder if we'll see William on the throne sooner rather than later?
