Doesn't social depravation happen regardless of colour, but let's be honest here the majority of stabbings is black on black, you can butter it up all you like with defending their turf etc. You don't suppose a lot of it is down to lack of father discipline within these youths?
In London the issue is disproportionately black, outside of London it’s predominantly white.

The common denominator is age and social deprivation. If you’re really interested in the subject go and read the studies about knife crime in Glasgow and how a multi pronged approach to tackling issue worked successfully.

I should imagine the issue is obviously predominantly an age one, not many gangs of 50+ going round with shanks protecting their turf....it's a lot to do with morals and upbringing in my book there's plenty of all races had tough, hard starts it's up to oneself which path to go down

Could be!

If a minority feels picked on, they are more likely to hang around in groups.

They feel hard done by, and spread their resentment.

Being in a large group gives them confidence. They feel they need to defend their own turf.

They carry knives to defend themselves as they don't trust the police.

Sounds like this place tbh.

Spot on <ok>

And if you genuinely cared about the problem rather than skin colour you'd be seeking to tackle youth crime in London the same way.

The world is forever changing and everyone needs to accept it and move forwards together no exceptions. What was acceptable or tolerated in the past probably isn't today the problem lies with everyone wanting to be or branded as a particular group, we are this, we are that, we want, you give, there is no end to the divide created by ourselves.

I think if you live, work and mix with people from all backgrounds it goes a long way to achieving that. You find you have much more in common and the differences can be overcome, those honest conversations can be had. The problems start when we stop talking, become insular and reinforcing our own fears and misconceptions. That happens on all sides btw.

I think I'm fortunate that I've grown up in an area which enabled me to mix with people from all backgrounds throughout my life from a young age - black, white, asian, different faiths and none. And I've seen good and bad in all of them tbh.

The thing is (and there's no getting away from this) we, none of us, are going anywhere. Anyone who thinks that, is living in a romanticised view of the past that never really existed anyway. The world as you say is changing and I agree, we have to find a way forward together.

Unfortunately skin colour is rammed down your throat everyday be it on ads, films, news, papers etc etc and that's why IMO it's becoming even more divisive to certain sections of society. <ok>

How is skin colour being ‘rammed down your throat’ on TV Ads and films?

Now I know you're trying get me to bite. I also know you think you are more intelligent than any other poster on 606. So you know exactly what I mean and therefore I'm not going to elaborate anymore on my comment.<ok>

I honestly didn’t know what you meant, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked.

You obvs don’t want to answer either for some reason.

I know, anything I say will be twisted into a race agenda. <ok>
Hang on though.

So you post ‘skin colour is being rammed down our throats on TV Ads and films etc’

I ask, ‘what does that mean?’

You refuse to answer, take a swipe at me, and then claim your answer would be somehow twisted into a ‘race agenda’? When it was you who made original comment about skin colour and thus race?

Don’t get it. Have a nice day.

Have a nice day yourself. Your mate mentioned skin colour in his original comment first. I was merely replying to it.<ok>
