Since the beginning of this year we've played 20 games. w12 D6 L2 = 42 PTS Our last 11 games W9 D2 L0 At the moment some of our footy isn't the prettiest put we are picking up the points and not conceding many goals. We have 3 major players due back in the next couple of games. I honestly think we will win this league with at least 2 games to spare. Thats not arrogance it is how I see it. Who comes up with us will be Hull hopefully as I think Posh will struggle even more on last 4 games. Only Hull fans know how well their team are playing. How many of you are confident enough to say it is still automatic to go up?? Do any of you think Sunderland won't make it??
I think the two automatic places are between Hull City, Peterborough and Sunderland for sure. But I wouldn’t be quite so confident that Sunderland’s good run of form will continue - much the same as I doubt City’s will. It’ll end up being very close, and if we drop into the playoffs that’ll be no bad thing (and far in excess of most fans’ expectations at the start of the season, or even the turn of the year(.
I think it will be Posh who will fall away even though they have just had a blinder of a result. it's certainly exciting
On current form Sunderland and ourselves occupy the top 2 positions, that's over the last 10 and last 6 games. The crucial games are still to come when the 3 top teams face each other? Home advantage probably doesn't amount to much this season with no fans stepping foot in Stadiums, nevertheless Sunderland have to face both their rivals away from home, will that make any difference? On a personal basis and on a purely selfish footing I'd hope that it's yourselves and us.Pandemic permitting I'd love an away day to Sunderland and it's a fairly simple and quick journey from Glasgow Queen St to the 'wheatsheaf' Hopefully we both go up automatically but these huge games involving the top 3 are truly season defining in every sense of the word!!
i hear what you're saying. However I tend to look at all the other games. i.e. I would have expected Hull to beat Gills at home. But that is two massive points dropped. I believe it is these games that will determine where the league will finish
It will go to the wire matey. Hull City are the best footballing side in this league and have been since day and should finish top. The trouble is though it takes more then a good footballing side to win this league. The standard of refereeing is poor, some of the pitches are poor ( Peterboro for example) and some are cooked to be undersize. On top of that every club and player at this time of the season are playing as their lives depend on it and in some cases their livelihoods do. Last month I thought Lincoln looked a safe bet, they were solid, gave nothing away and could score but look how they have dropped off as the pressure was turned up. No result is nailed on and every match will be a battle for all the teams. Also the absence of a crowd is a big leveller at this level. I don't expect Hull City to waltz through the remaining games unbeaten and I don't expect Sunderland too either. It depends on the luck of the bounce, luck with injuries and suspensions, a fair crack of the whip from the ref, taking your chances when they come and giving nothing away at the back. So it's between Hull City and Sunderland if we keep our nerve.
Eaves was all over them and they were allowed to foul him at every opportunity and go unpunished. But, yes we did miss Magennis. Hopefully he'll be back injury free for the run in.
Sunderland's next 2 games are huge? Oxford,Home(and fighting for a play off place) and Peterboro,Away(outstanding home record) could be pivotal? Two extremely interesting fixtures and if you win both of them you'll have more of less cemented yourselves in poll position. We have Crewe away and Northampton at home which look easier(on paper)...These are huge games for us too. Saturday's game was never going to be a 'gimme'.Gillingham are in form but we created a raft of chances, some gilt edged, yet still managed to drop 2 points.Disappointed,Absolutely.
Eaves came out of the traps pumped up and proved himself a real menace.Sadly, that tapered off and once again he was found wanting. He should be doing so much better and whatever our fate this season,he's proved time after time that his finishing is poor even at this level.
Fans call Magennis however is hold up play and strength make a big difference for bringing Wilks and KLP into the game. He doesn’t always play well but if I was a midfielder I’d like him ahead of me.
you would hope that a Yorkshire paper would get the name of a Yorkshire team correct in their article: But then, the YP is essentially a Leeds centric paper and grudginly acknowledges the rest of the county when obliged to.
To be fair their articles on City tend to be better than most in the HDM. Of course HDM has a world wide view of things and wouldn't print endless articles about things you could only do in Hull, like walk down a Hull street or go in a Hull night club or 20 things that only people in Hull say, though most of them are said elsewhere. To be fair all the local papers in the group the HDM are contain such nonsense.
