The The.

Manchester class, Johnny also involved there at times.

New Fast Automatic Daffodils @PINKIE to confirm.

Him and me were definitely at the same NewFADS gig in New Cross many years back!!

Yeah New FADS bro.

I saw the Wedding Present, Inspiral Carpets, Verve (before they were THE verve) back when they were down London along with a ton of band back in the early 90's

Saw The Fall and Jesus and Mary Chain play at the same gig once. Such a good scene.

Good judge of good music is time.

Beatles played all the fukin time. even now.

Elvis, I think it's ****, but still it gets Played now. So imo can't be called ovverated.

Overrated leads to hearing it more over time.

Jamiroquai

That first album. Emergency on planet earth, with probably go down as one of the most influential popular albums of the 90's though.

Plus their bass player, Stuart Zender is a jazz/funk maestro

There's still people listening to snap 30 years later mate

<laugh>

There's a difference between popularity, and something being **** though.

I don't particularly like The Beatles or Elvis, but there's no doubting their talent, and the mark they left on music literally shaped the whole scene.

But take somebody The Spice Girls, arguably as popular as The Beatles, but their music is vacuous pap ****e.

Let's get back to the point

I said beatles is overrated and the opposition is using popularity as a gauge, but here's where there argument falls down.

Popularity and being overrated come hand in hand.

Popularity isn't a measure of talent. See Spice Girls example.

I don't think the Beatles are overrated though. They had a massive influence on the scene and shaped pop music for the next 30-40 years. I don't particularly like their music, but I can still see how talented and influential they were.

I used x factor as an argument that popularity is irrelevant, so I'm not sure why I've got to read your example when it's exactly the same point.

I'm not alone there's plenty think the Beatles are overrated.. Its the ovverated thread not the keep the beatles fans from being emotional thread

You're entitled to disagree

I'm moving on from this because the beatles cult is in my arse a bit too much for my liking this morning. I just don't like them.. ****ing octopuses garden the lot of it.

Lol, chill Munse.

I don't like them either and I'm not here to protect the cult of the Beatles.

I just think their influence on popular music makes them anything but overrated.
