https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/hull-city-dawson-joey-celtic-5545898 Given this particular club's history of child abuse, must be slightly concerning for Andy Dawson's family.
Because of that history, I would be very surprised if they didn't now have the most robust child safeguarding systems in the history of Scottish football.
No disrespect to us at all, but their youth set up, training /medical/education facilities etc are all light years ahead of us. Absolutely zero idea on it, but I'd expect the financials to be much more attractive to
And to counter that it’s in Glasgow! Horrible place horrible people and he’s english! Kids need nurturing and he would be well looked after here in familiar surroundings to enable him to flourish
It's a really strange move!!! There's little or no chance of him getting first team football,he'll get farmed out to some of other lower league team and return to England wondering why he actually bothered coming up here?
I'm sure he wouldn't have gone if the family thought there was still a problem. At 18 it's a great time for him to be spreading his wings a bit, learn his trade away from the 'family business'. Could be a great experience for him.
As an update to that,I've just read the sports section in the Scottish Sun. 'Dawson will start in Celt's Colts Lowland League side but aims to make his mark in the first team'. Old firm reserve sides will play in Scotland's fifth tier this term...
Yeah, but there's a hell of lot of football knowledge and networks in that family. Possibly even more than on this board? Was reading the lad's report how he sat with his dad after every game going through his performance, from a very early age. Not bad having a personal coach! It seems Uncle Michael also showed an interest in his progress too. With some ability and the right commitment, he has had a great opportunity to make it. Lets hope he continues to take that opportunity and progresses. Lets hope Andy can then get him back to City.
