Have you ever been to Hunslets new ground ? It's not as big as Costello Stadium. In fact the last time I was there, for a speed awareness course no less, I drove past it three times without noticing it. To call them a professional RL club on the same level as Leeds Rhino's is like saying Hall Road Rangers are on par with Hull City.

It holds 4,000. How many does Costello hold? Enough for FC games?

They did.

First ground in 1865 was Woodgates Hall,North Ferriby, home of the Harrison family.

Note: the founders were major poshos, educated at Marlborough, Cheltenham, Rugby and St Peters (York).

In 1870 they rented a ground at Selby cos Hull was too far to travel for many opponents.

In 1871 they moved to the Rifle Barracks field down Londesborough St

Next ground was Haworth Arms field in Newland.

By 1879 they were playing in West Park.

In the 1880s they merged with White Star who played on Holderness Rd.

I can't find it now, but I've got a press article somewhere (I think I've posted it on here before) that relates the story of Hull playing a Doncaster team that had just won the cup in the late 1800's. The crowds thronged the walls on Beverley Road to watch.

That would have to be the Yorkshire Cup - the major RL trophy of the day.

How much better terms could they have John?
As I keep saying this is just a rallying call to the great unwashed.
There’s no money in druggy league as it is
Who in their right mind would fund a 15000 seat stadium at a cost of? What say 20 million been generous. With no chance of any profit
They’d have to maintain it, again not cheap to do. On 11 games a season!!! Ye right.

How much better terms could they have John? Not sure, but Adam obviously feels they are not fairly treated, so maybe it is not just about the money side, but getting a fair crack of the whip in how they are treated.

Adam obviously feels if the stadium is used commercially in a good way, as he pointed out about the Premier club and Concerts when he was at City, he feels that it can be a going concern.

Maybe this is all a bit hypothetical, as it is a few years down the road and will Adam still be the owner?

On the concerts point. Personally I thought they were great but they were not a money spinner because they depended too much on the weather. Could have been the Neil Diamond one, or one of the earlier ones but tickets sales were a bit slow so Adam vastly reduced them on the day of the concert which give the signal for every other concert that followed of, don't buy a ticket until the last minute because they will be virtually giving them away on the day. Then if the weather forecast was a bit iffy he couldn't shift them at all.
But Elton John, Simply Red, The Who and ELO were fantastic concerts and good for the city but sadly The Who lost thousands and some of the others did too.

It really is astounding that people are taken in by this.
I know adams always been a good salesman but Jesus h ****ing Christ
Likewise, ulterior motive for dropping this bombshell on the eve of a new season perhaps ? Have they been asked to contribute to the pitch re laying or something, rent increase ? asked to pay for the sponsors tables that city pick up the bill for ?

Or because, as someone commented in the HDM, rugby league is steadily growing? (Stop sniggering at the back<laugh>)

That was my original point, it was more him putting out that idea which could make his negotiations with SMS more favourable, meaning he has another alternative even if he has no intention of going ahead with it.

The corporate sponsorship arrangement that Hull FC benefitted from was cancelled by the Allams in 2013.

Do you think they should have continued ?, What about all the other benefits they get or don't pay for ?

I had no issue with it being scrapped, other than the fact they changed the name from the Premier Club, to the Premier Tiger, which made it sound like a kids club.

I'm not aware of any other benefits, what are they?

The SMC are responsible for the maintenance and running of the stadium, Hull FC just pay rent under the terms of their lease, as do City.

This is the proposed new stadium for Workington (football and rugby clubs), its estimated cost is £15-20m. There's never been a better time to raise that sort of cash, money is really cheap at the moment and it would probably end up costing less per year than the £600k FC apparently pay the SMC currently. In addition, FC would get to keep all the beer and food money and any revenue raised by events and functions held there.

Though I don't think it's likely, I don't think it's as ridiculous a proposition as some seem to think.

I know it's unlikely to happen but I do think it'd be a huge shame if they move out.

I have no interest in RL at all but have always thought of it as "our" stadium rather than just City's. Although I'm 100% guilty of banter regarding the ground share I do think it's a great asset for both clubs that we're lucky to have.

Is the Gemtec/Airco/Bonus arena still managed by the SMC? It looks an absolute **** tip from Walton Street now. The outside hasn't been maintained at all.

Where is there space?
11-13 games a season?
Concerts? We’ve just got a new arena.
He brings this bullshit out every preseason

Can they change ends at half time?

Whatever happened to the groundsman from the early 90’s, was he called John Cooper? I seem to recall every year Boothferry winning the divisional pitch of the year, one year I think it won the national award too, beating Arsenal, who always were winning the PL one.
