You're right in a way to be fair.
The Lincoln win was overshadowed by subsequent backslides ...
... as you say we need to kick on from Portsmouth with a convincing win then keep the effort going.
Maybe the reason we brushed over any of the big scoreline, statement wins was because they were followed up with a couple of here we go again results?
Maybe a must win now admirer today’s results. A point will get us 3rd but leave us 4 behind Peterborough after the same games.

Lincoln seem to be folding, so 2 wins this week should create quite a gap between the top 3 and the rest. We've just got to keep reeling them in relentlessly, like we have been.
Similar situation to our 1st season down here, when there was Luton, Barnsley and Us. Barnsley went on a great run, we didn't. Can't see that happening this season, there's almost an air of invincibility about us now.
As long as we keep clean sheets, I fancy us.

Call me old fashioned, or simply deluded, but I hate the concept of a must-win game.
The implication is that we don't expect to win every game and are looking to other teams' results. I think that the team has been so poor for so long that we have collectively forgotten what it was like to have a team that was feared.
I can understand that, but I hate the reasons behind it. Since the days of the Peter Reid back to back premiership 7ths progress has been limited at best and beset with short-term thinking. Then the financial discrepancies between us and the biggest clubs seemed to bring in the acceptance that success was just about us staying up in the Premiership.
I hope that KLD can put a stop to the days of us having to gauge progress by who we feel we can take points off, who we feel we will struggle against and who we can afford to lose to.
I am not deluding myself that we have suddenly become a super team that will win every game. There will be games where we will be hampered by poor refs, others where we go in and play badly or when we couldn't score for love nor money. Other days might see our opponents playing out of their skin.
As far as I am concerned Accrington is a must-win because they all should be. We've all seen what happens when we've tried to hold a tight lead or settle for a point - we end up getting beaten.
For me attack is the best form of defence and you are right whether you believe you will succeed or whether you believe you won't succeed.
At long last we have an owner with vision and means. Added to that a manager who is prepared to use his squad resources, play different systems, use his subs and can change how his team plays during a match.
For the first time in ages I'm happy to leave the worries about end of season league position up to the club management.

A fooking good 6 or 7-0 romp against Accrington followed by another comfortable win against Lincoln Saturday and the rest will be shìtting their pants.
good post, while we are all dubious and just waiting for the next 'typical sunderland' you have outlined the reasons why we have reason to be more optimistic now...how many games have we played recently where many of us, if not all of us, expected us to slip up?
the plain fact is that we have so far sailed through every test, the teams that have been flying and 'to be feared' have been beaten, sometimes quite convincingly, we have clawed teams back little by little and there is no reason we cannot keep doing it, especially with most of the squad raring to go, granted we have had a bit of help the way results have gone but how many times was it us helping others by losing points...we will have blips along the way but just reading this board has shown that many are getting THAT feeling again before games and that surely has to be a good thing.
I've said before attack is best form of defense and in that you make your own luck.
If all this happened a few months earlier we could of been running away with this league now.
I'm not taking anything for granted even though it's finally in our hands but by fook we look a good bet now .

just been looking back at all the harsh words directed at some of our supporters, who were shouting for Parky out and never want to see McGeady again, for years i was a happy clapper but this season I've come to appreciate good talent, i slaged off Burge and he proved me wrong, i wasn't ower keen on McFazdean but he has bucked up lately, and long may it continue but the biggest lesson to be learned is when our supporters are unhappy with certain players, its best to not respond because it can make you look like a dick when proved wrong, so from now on ill give praise where its due, and keep shtum when its poor as the experts will see it as well and the crap wont last long, as the load of ****e we got rid of this season will testify too

The way it's shaping up now it looks like 2 out of 3 , Us, Posh and Hull. It could be a case of who folds first, I just think Peterborough will. Although they are decent, they really don't have strength in depth and I reckon our game down there will be decisive.
Fantastic spirit in the squad at the moment, the injured and cup-tied players showing their support was fantastic to see. All for one and one for all.
I think you're right, Peterborough were poor last night against a team in a mess. They have injuries to important players whereas we have key positions coming back ...
... they've also had a settled regime for two years whereas we've been in turmoil. We've had a takeover, manager change etc, but we now have a great team spirit and momentum.
We're on our way.
