Was Jones and O'Brien short term injuries, are likely to be back for this? We missed them both at the weekend.

sure a 'minimum' two weeks was mentioned for them both but there was much better news for most of our other long term, apart from xhemajli we might have an even stronger team for the run in meaning players can be rested.

Heard “must win if we want auto” so many times since Johnson joined. And when we don’t win it’s doldrums. Yet we’re still well in with a good shout. A draw isn’t a bad result as long as we keep on going the way we have. Suppose only time will tell!!

From my point of view it's important that we don't follow up Wembley with a poor performance and defeat.

I'm so tired of seeing 'typical Sunderland' and 'the Sunderland way', after yesterday I think that mentality is half way out the door ....

.... we just need to kick it down the garden path now.

A convincing win would be a massive statement of intent on Wednesday. It sends the message out that for all we've won a trophy, we're not stopping there..... so beware!

Hopefully followed by a win against Lincoln on Saturday.
That we play Wednesday night this week means that we will know how tomorrow night’s fixtures have gone as well.
Not that it should change our plans but if Lincoln and Posh drop more points they will be very worried.
Appleton might have been intending his compliments about us yesterday as a bit of toffee but I think he was genuinely envious of the squad that Johnson now has becoming available to him and respectful of our building momentum.
In previous years I’d have been going into the Accrington game fully expecting the obligatory kick in the stones of a defeat.
Feels different this time.

We'll still have some ups and down this season but hopefully nearly all ups which will see us get promoted at the end of it.

A Barton inspired Bristol Rovers might be trickier than it appears at first glance for example.
I remember last season they were getting beat by 3 and 4 goals in the games leading up to us going there and we got battered.
Admittedly that was under Parkinson and they had Clarke Harris up top but it’s still a potential banana skin.
Hopefully we just keep winning.
We're breaking a lot of hoodoos this season - beating Burton, beating Fleetwood, winning away at Portsmouth, winning at Wembley. No reason why we can't give little Joey Barton as spanking

I don't think we got out of 2nd gear yesterday and looked a bit leggy but that's understandable with the amount of games we've had. I thought Diamond looked great and he spread the game. I would have given Benji a run for the last 5 or 10 mins just to run at them.
The bench is getting stronger week by week and there's a lot more competition. The players look as though they are loving life at the minute but as already being said every game is a must win game.

I believe we will.

I said before the Portsmouth game, sod them we're better than they are ...

... same applies to any team Barton is involved with.

His presence doesn't make the players any better and we need to impose our superiority.

Yes. We saw on Sky on Sunday that Appleton (Lincoln manager) said that all the clubs are starting to notice that Sunderland are picking up speed and may be hard to stop, and we've done that without any sort of statement win. A massive win against another top half team would be lovely.
