My 8 year old twins are starting to get really decent at footy now. Ive taken them to 2 Sunderland games and constantly take them out on the field to play but theyve literally had no interest up until now.

Its a shame because my first Safc game will stay in my mind forever. 1987 1-1 against Wallsall in Div 3. We had over 10k fans at Roker and i always remember the feeling i had getting to that top step inside the stadium and seeing the illuminous Green pitch with all the fans. I was about the same age as my lads are now and ive been hooked from that day on..

Cracking that mate, and many more proud dad moments still to come im sure. And, black boots as well....you should be proud.
Treasure these moments mate, and keep posting any other proud dad moments you want to share.

Can’t believe the first response to this post is to attempt to pull someone up about an incorrect attendance. FFS the lads proud his kids are going to follow in his footsteps. Feel the pain and suffering but also the occasional highs and great days at the match with mates.

the old adage goes if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all. Some posters would be wise to heed the above.

brilliant post mate and I really hope they keep following the greatest football team in the world.

Tees , if you stop posting , the nobs deprive you of the forum , and deprive those of us who have enjoyed your company all these years of your contribution. Please reconsider mate

Thanks mate, i sound petty by saying im not posting anymore.

Im a strange lad me though, if something or someone pishes me off i cant let it go. Ive lost many friends over the years because of it and i now dont feel the passion to post anymore

Well if you don’t, at least remember the direct message, plenty will be happy to hear from you individually

There was no thought im my second paragraph, my thread was about my lads and then i went onto speak about my memories of being the same age. All i remember is a packed out Roker park (i now know it wasnt :emoticon-0130-devil), but we all have our memories of what got us hooked and that was mine.
My sharing has been spoilt now like so in future anything them 2 kunts have to say i hope you shoot them down because i know i will.
I'm not sure what they expected because if anybody forensically examined my recollections from a week back I'd probably be shown to be a liar. The amount of fans there that day didn't matter one bit. It was clearly you showing your love for the kids. I thought I lived a miserable life until I seen the comments from them two.

**** em, mate. Don't stop posting, just know that the posters that you have known for years are all pretty much still on here apart from those that have passed away <rose> and we are still interested in you and your kids lives. That's all you need to know and all you need to be bothered about.

The fact ive had posts deleted makes it more annoying.

Ffs 30k then. Who gives a feck man, im writing a thread about my lads.
Ffs theres some right serious kunts on here now!
Don't worry about it mate it was a lovely post. I posted a couple days ago about taking my lad to his first games, it is a proud thing, bringing your kids up to follow us. My dad's a mag, we only experience supporting the same team when England play. Went to France 2016 and it was a high point of my life. I'm going to make certain my lad supports Sunderland so that I can enjoy that bond every week. Your post was class, who gives a **** what the official attendance was or owt man, tell them to **** off! Don't become a non contributor, posts like that are what makes this place class

Good post mate.
My dad was born and raised in Byker, but used to go to Newcastle and Sunderland games....whoever was at home.
Me and two brothers all Sunderland.
My eldest son is a mag. I worked offshore till he was 14, so he spent a lot of time with his grandad (wifes dad) who was a newcastle season ticket holder. I married into a family of mags. I took him to his first ever games at Roker Park, and he loved it. Ive got pics of him on the pitch and in the dugout at Roker Park, with his dummy in!! Sadly he went over to the dark side, and became a season ticket holder with his Grandad....I still speak to him though. Wife and daughter are mags more newcastle as well.
Middle son is a MLF though, so at least I've got one.

@Teesdarlomakem, don't give up posting mate. You seem a sound bloke and the original post was a great one and I hope your kids enjoy the ride supporting us.

Personally, I couldn't tell you what the attendance was at the first match my dad took me to. It could have been 1000 or 100,000 for all I care, all I remember was the atmosphere and how much I enjoyed it, and I hope your kids got as big a kick out of their first game as you did at yours.

Absolutely class!

My mam was from Grangetown. Dad from Arthur's Hill (walking distance from St James). We lived in Australia when I was young, moved to Scotland for work when I came home at 8. Sadly while I was away my dad's parents died. It meant I never had any reason to go to Newcastle. Went to Sunderland to see my mams parents all the time, I associated it with being carefree, happy and loved. My dad wanted me to support them but never took me to a game.

One day in Sunderland there was a big family argument. My dad can't remember what it was about but one of my uncles said he'd take the bairn to Roker Park for the match to get him out of the way. Went there, loved it, never looked back. Met my lass after a game, my boy was born here, I moved here; live in millfield but the missus and boys are redhouse so I'm there most the time. My dad genuinely wants us to win, he's not a bad one, he married a Mackem and his grandson was born here so he can't be against us! Wouldn't change it for the world but I'm so glad we both follow England! Can't beat watching the match with your dad, glad you've got to experience that with the middle son and I'll make sure I get to do it with mine (and thankfully I've got a step bairn who is 18 and travels all over watching us, love it!)

excellent that mate.

I can still see the joy on my sons face as we both jumped around like looneys when McGeady equalised in the checkatrade final. Having a few cans together on wembley way will stay with me forever.
I know it was only the efl trophy, but I would like to think, long after im gone, that he is telling his kids/grandkids about the time he had a few cans on Wembley Way with his Dad, and he can still see the joy on my face as we jumped around like looney's when McGeady equalised.

I will mate because im a stubborn moody kunt.
As i stated in an earlier post i enjoy your posts and stories, but cant always get to them till late on normally, i have had a couple of posts where that twat Owers piped up, ignore the dickhead like i did mate not worth getting worked up about. I missed all the strong language if any and threats, but in my perspective after reading this thread im of the same opinion even after deletions, that's one sorry sack of **** who needed to know when to shut up but just couldn't control his urge to be a cnut,
Any way mate keep well stay strong and i look forward to reading your next thread
